Title: Flush CP
Post by: darkSSide on September 28, 2017, 04:28:40 pm
What's the best way to go about making the CP flush and not bolting the joysticks from the top?

By "making the CP flush" I assume that you mean:
  1. Not having visible mounting hardware, and
  2. Not having to use Bondo/wood filler to cover recessed hardware like T-nuts. (minimal surface prep)

Two methods mentioned in the FAQ are "Under mount (threaded inserts)" and "Under mount (support blocks)".

Yes all good info but just want some feedback from members that have done all of the above.
Just wondering what has worked out the best using the standard 3/4" mdf.

I should also say I want to under mount them, routing underneath so I can get more of the handle on top.

That's what i do. T-nut countersunk on top with wood glue. I routed underneath up to the end of the t-nut. Cut bolt so i can never go beyond top of tnut. Bondo the tnut and and smooth.

That's what I was thinking of doing. Did you take any progression pics of your work?

Yeah. I have 2 project cabs and a finished one. Ill take some pics for you. The T-nuts had a longer shaft than i normal use and ended up making the joystick mounting holes a little bigger to fit the tnut shaft.
