So I am getting further down the rabbit hole here and I am wondering if this adapter:

Will let me get my PCB's working on my Trinitron. I know it will pass the video, but will light guns still work?!?!?!?!?
-
I am assuming your Trinitron is a LCD/Plasma/LED TV?
If so then No, the old light guns need scan lines to work.
-
Trinitrons are CRTs. Unless Sony revived the name later on.

sorry, should have put model
KV-36FS13
Its a Big 'ol CRT

Ahh ive actually seen a TV make called Trinitron lol
Or something like that anyways
If its a CRT it should work.
-
so this box should induce ~0 lag? Is that called a transcoder or something?

Well I dont know about that, the more things you put into circuit the more lag you will get.
Wether or not its noticeable is the q. Only one way to find out really :p

Was hoping there was a 2nd way, asking on broad.
Anyone go rgb->component and use a jamma lightgun con n the other side?

anytime you have something that scales i think you introduce lag.
I've read on other forums that this introduces no lag.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RGB-SCART-ADAPTER-TO-RCA-COMPONENT-DM500-A-V-DREAMBOX-DM100-DM-500-100-RGB-SCA-/382038398209?hash=item58f3435501:g:t-gAAOSwhQhY7G1t (http://www.ebay.com/itm/RGB-SCART-ADAPTER-TO-RCA-COMPONENT-DM500-A-V-DREAMBOX-DM100-DM-500-100-RGB-SCA-/382038398209?hash=item58f3435501:g:t-gAAOSwhQhY7G1t)
Plus it's cheaper.
Now i'm just guessing but i'm wondering if this will match up to the above to give you the best solution.

Thank you!!! Excellent ESP!!!
Ordered both, in the mail, will post results as soon as things show up. So happy this is plug and play!!!!!!!! Hoping this is good enough that I don't have to mess with RGB modding :D

IIRC - RGB from PCB to to TV is different than converting RGB to Component... especially if the Component on your TV is only capable of displaying 480i. It may not be 240p on that input.
-
The real light guns that rely on a CRT operate based on the resolution and refresh rate. So any processing that interferes with that messes things up.
I had an awesome high def 4:3 CRT Sony that I thought was going to be perfect, but my ACT Labs light guns wouldn't work because it had a built in line doubler that couldn't be turned off.
-
Was your display a smart TV?
-
I didn't they made "smart tv" CRTs
-
Was your display a smart TV?
No apps. Lots of processing to optimize the picture quality as Sony liked to do on their higher end models.
-
I think I got myself confused with my post earlier. I meant to say HD crt.
A number of those have upscaling processors built in that you can't do anything about. Most of the time they change the refresh output and add lag, so most lightguns aren't compatable.
-
Gotcha, I don't know if it does any preprocessing, but I donno, maybe. I ordered the jamma->scart adapter so I'll be able to test in a couple ys
-
So the Ebay SCART RGB to Component adapter... its just sending RGB inputs and grounds to the composite pins... the TV is not syncing with it, go figure :(
I assumed inside the black box there would be a tiny circuit to convert to Y Pb Pr, but unfortunately, its just straight wired to the RGB/rgbGround pins.
So It looks like the product in my first post is going to be required, or something similar, anyone have any familiarity with one of these products?

that's annoying.
I ordered the same thing for the same purpose based on it's description: It works by taking the 'RGB' Scart video signal output from these devices and converting it into high quality YUV/YPbPr component video signal.
well at least they were cheap.
