Title: 17'' arcade monitor vs 17'' PC monitor
Post by: ArcadeFX on July 05, 2002, 11:35:55 am
Is the viewing area of a 17'' arcade monitor the same as a 17'' PC monitor?

Also, were most of the classic verticle monitor games run on a 17'' monitor.

The 17" arcade monitor should be just that...17" viewable whereas a 17" computer will be 16" viewable or less. Unless you get a flatscreen LCD PC monitor....these have true size ratings.

Most classic arcade monitors are 19"

I haven't tried yet, but if you free the pc-monitor from its housing, the viewable area should be the same, as there most likely some picture get lost in the case.

Yep, I really would consider to go with 19", for its the real thing!  :D
A arcade-monitor (or an WellsGardner U3100) would look most perfect for arcade-games, but not for windows.
