Hello. I purchased the Maximus Arcade on sale the other day and received no code and there is no way to contact them.. HELP
IS this company gone and did I just waste money????
-
Welcome to the club.

Maximus is sadly dead.
Even if you had the codes I wiuld advise you find another Front End.
-
I bought it yesterday for $5 just because two people told me they use it successfully.
I got a code but Maximus starts only with a black screen on two of my Windows 10 PCs.
Any idea ?
-
Try it in compatibility mode?
If I recall it will also go to black screen if its not configured.

At what point should we have a large sticky at the top of this sub forum with the words “Do not buy the software anymore”?

Good idea, but I feel most people that purchase Maximus have no idea about this forum.

True, but at least this might help the ones that do.

Unless they go to the Maximus site where the top support topic links to here for help !!
Looks like he needed a bit of $ so put it on sale for $5 to get more people that do not know it's dead to sign up again !

That’s EFFIN’ sketchy. Does it link to a specific thread/link, or the site in general?

I got maximus to work with a newer Mame version but it is all horrible.
Changed Path in config to "long", converted XML files , tied and did a lot of stuff.
Wasted a lot of time with it and still some things do not work correct.
Lost Maximus config some time and saw read error message, fixed it but adding new roms is allways a pain !
Yesterday I tried out the Lauchbox fronted and all I can tell is, it is just working as expected , fast, easy and clean !
Forget about maximus.

It works fine for me with older mame versions. Maximus was the first front end I set up personally so I have a comfort level with it. That said, I would not recommend anyone new to the hobby waste any time with it. The problem is that the only folks exposed to it are people who buy xarcade stuff, and usually these folks are relatively new to the hobby. So they don't know what they don't know.
The whole thing with xarcade is stupid. They are linking their product with an inferior front end and thats just short sighted on their part. Oh well, just another example of a successful businesses making stupid errors in business strategy.

It links directly to the Maximus Sub forum - which is why we get people making new accounts and posting for help there thinking it is part of the Maximus support - so they are already upset they paid for the program and then expect us to help not knowing we really are just an arcade building forum that has a sub for Maximus - so don't understand when noone posts help right away.

There was a thread about this quite a while ago, "Why are we being yelled at?", or something similar.
I still use Maximus. Seriously thinking of migrating to a new front end. I don't want to use a product from some zombie company that is milking people out of money for a product they expect this message board to support.
