Title: Coil Maintenance
Post by: otsep on November 28, 2016, 12:03:02 am
I'm working on a Pinbot that is very dirty.  Is there a way to safely clean coils or is it not worth it?  Thanks.

Knock most of the black dust off with a paint brush and canned air or a vacuum cleaner. Then if you have grease or crud on the plastic bobbin, use lighter fluid or 99% isopropyl alcohol to clean it off. If the coil wrapper looks bad, you can download & print new one here:

Scroll the menu down to coil wrappers. When printing be sure to select "no scaling" in your print setup so it prints out the correct size.

I use double sided Scotch tape to secure the coil wrappers.

also, do not use any oil or lube on parts. all it does is attract dirt and cause gumming up.

A paint brush to dust off coil wrappers?  Give me a break.  Spray that sucker down with Formula 409.
