Title: Data East power supply board issue
Post by: pinballwizard79 on November 13, 2011, 02:56:01 am
Wait... I know that smell, its the smell of... Noooo my DE WWF Royal Rumble has half of its translight bulbs out! Thinking on my feet I unplug the GI clip & thankfully the game still powers up & plays but of course no GI now.

Later on I plug in the GI clip & see a scary bright white glow (maybe an arc, maybe heat, maybe wtf?) & the solder bubbles. That's when I unpluged the GI & logged into BYOAC.

I have never repaired a board in my life but I've got nothing to lose. Any ideas?

http://rottendog.us/DPS004.htm (http://rottendog.us/DPS004.htm) = $85 fixes all my woes but I think its time I ruin a board in the name of a failed repair so feel free to offer insight please.

Thanks

Thats a damn good idea, thanks.

Man the thing is I swapped out my TFTC PS board & it works fine, no overheating (left it on for a good 4 hours & kept touching/checking/sniffing it).

The second I plug in the old roasty board I see colors & smell trouble.

Yeah thats prolly what I'm gonna do.

Just bought a Baywatch & over paid by $250 just to avoid a road trip & wasted day so I better have the package sent to my work lol.
