Title: Megatouch Wall Of Shame
Post by: smartbomb2084 on August 13, 2013, 08:39:45 am
Gathered up some of the older 'Boat Anchors' laying around the building...

As Dr. Mc Coy would say... "He's DEAD Jim"

Holy crow... you guys got a pile of machines sitting there...   :o

Any chance either of you have a spare ISA Riser Board for a Telco 486 board out of a Megatouch XL?

I picked up this XL a few years back and can only get it to start up if I plug the IO board straight into the motherboard.  If I use the riser board, doesn't start up.  But, can't close the case with the IO board sticking straight out the back, so I've been trying to find a Telco Riser Board (with no luck so far).

Any chance either of you have a spare one?

Ha, laughs on me...

Pulled the IO board out, gave the connectors on both the IO Board and the Riser Board a light sanding w/600 grit, wiped them clean w/naptha, plugged them back in, and it started.

Now tells me that I've got an "Invalid Key", but that's a whole lot farther along than I was earlier.  Crap... and to think this has been sitting here next to my desk for ~2yrs and all I needed was to clean off the bloody connectors.  Sigh...

Well, now I need to sort out what's wrong with the CD/Key I've got here, but I'll figure that out when I'm back from vacation at the end of the month.

Is there a post somewhere that I missed detailing what is involved with this?

i believe there might have been.

not a real big deal....3m has the drivers for the controller on their website for download.

be nothing to install an OS and the driver (touchscreen emulates mouse clicks) and install angry birds

What about the jukebox software and the speakers?

I could use winamp or something, but I'd like to see if there is something better.

Coolio. I'm going to see if he'll let me bring one of the mega-touch machines home to experiment with.

I assume this can be installed in addition to the already installed games, and maybe have it link through a menu or something?

Would be pretty sweet to play some music while playing games. Somehow have the jukebox play through add-on speakers, and game play through internal speakers.

do not think i even could be bothered with it
i did a contract of 60 machines that landed 12 machines the owner told me to keep
most were bad hard drives or merit up grades to the stupied
specific hard drive crap
so i yanked out there i/o boards
slapped in a tad more ram, went to vrock/over windows..never looked back
some had so-so mobos..the owner never caught on to the fact FANS NOT WORKING MEANS HEAT MEANS BAD NEWS,so i would slap in a asusa board
and carry on..touchs worked perfect..vrock sets up like jem.
as vrock is windows driven and merit is linux..i would want to go ? to your idea..
but heck give it a go.
let us know
