Title: My seeking skills suck!
Post by: babydickonboard on July 01, 2005, 04:54:56 am
OK heres the problem.....I am to my wits end trying to find a place around the seattle area that will sell cabs.  I've looked thru tons of directories, called around, looked on internet etc but to no avail.  i'm looking for a warehouse type place where i might be able to buy a broken down old cab or something stripped out.....anything.  i have spent time looking around and ive come up empty handed..... maybe somebody can point me in the right direction?? thanx alot.

Might be time to build from scratch? The joy for me in this is in the work, building one from scratch might prove to be as fun as a refurb for you. Just a thought.

How did you look for places? Did you check the Yellow pages under "amusement" or "amusement devices" ?

I found several local sellers on ebay. I didn't bid on their auctions, I just emailed them and asked if they had any dead cabs for sale. Found one in a couple weeks.

I found mine at a vending and games warehouse.....look up amusements in the yellow pages....or find a game in a local place and look for a tag on it....it will tell you the addy and phone # of the vending place where it came from.....good luck....

Check on craigslist in Seattle.  There is a guy that has a gutted cab for $75 and several others from $500 on down.  Just do a search for arcade and there is usually something.

No, no, no, no.

Calling amusement companies, operators, or anything else in the yellow pages IS NOT the way to do it. That was the way to do it 10 years ago, it is not the way to do it now. By now they have all either been picked completely clean, dumped all the vids years ago, or are owned by an "old school" operator who thinks his broken Mat Mania machines are solid gold.

The collectors and the ebay sellers have them all now. RGVAC, KLOV, Superauctions, the newspaper, and ebay are the ways to do it. If you only want an empty then just start emailing local ebay gamesellers, most of them will have PLENTY of junk. I am not even a gameseller and I must have ditched 10 machines from free-$50 in the last year alone.

Collectors are the best though, because they largely aren't doing it for money, and almost always have games that they just want out of the way (from bulk buys and such).
