Title: Removing spray paint from acrylic
Post by: processedmeat on June 26, 2015, 03:33:19 pm
So for my cabinet, I sprayed painted the back side of the acrylic sheet to make the monitor bezel.  I now want to add a 7" USB monitor in the area that was spray painted to serve as the second screen for instructions and/or marquee.  Is there a way to safely remove the spray paint without scratching up the acrylic or do I need to get a brand new piece of acrylic?  Thanks!

anything that will remove paint will likely eat acrylic.

gonna have to get another.

but, if you are game, you have nothing to lose.... you can try paint stripper like Polystrippa or Circa  to remove the paint....it MAY leave your plastic alone. it may also eat the plastic. plastics are weird like that.

Thanks.  I had a feeling that this was the case.

Cintrastrip will DEFINITELY mess up the acrylic.  I speak from experience.
