Title: How to get player 1 and 2 leds to work with Pi?
Post by: MovingTarget on January 29, 2020, 02:44:19 pm
Hi, I have some volcano buttons and I want to have the LEDs light up for player 1 and player 2.  How does that work with the PI?  I used to have my cab running on a PC and I'm switching.  I have an old IPAC that's just PS2 so I'm looking to change to something that supports USB.  Any help is appreciated!

for 2 player you will need 2 boards.
I had 2 buy a extra one just foe 2 player Ms Pacman.
2nd board only has player 2 start and player 2 coin.

Which of these describes what you want to do?

1. LEDs always on.

2. LEDs on when pressed.

3. LEDs flash when a coin is inserted, like the original Atari games did. (3:40 in this video)

Sorry I wasn't clear about that.

3, I want it to flash when a "coin is dropped", like the original.

I did get the IPAC2 that works with USB and just don't have the volcano button LEDs hooked up at all.  The button, to capture the click, is hooked up.  I'm using the Raspberry Pi 3.

Posted some relevant info yesterday in your other thread that asks the same question.   :P   :lol

I'm not 100% sure if the related MAME output system is working properly with LED controllers (commercial or DIY) on RasPi running those ancient, commonly-used versions of MAME.   :dunno

RGB Commander works with RPI and hooks into retropie.
it might do it.
