Title: Need help with some Mortal Kombat II stuff
Post by: leapinlew on May 02, 2011, 01:59:31 pm
I have a MKII I'm looking to Mame. The sideart is good, but I need a few things.

1. Artwork for the Control Panel in a psd format. I'm going with a 6 button layout, and I want to edit the original MKII layout. Does this artwork exist? I also want the artwork for the sides and front of the control panel.
2. Artwork for the marquee in a psd format.
3. Dimensions of the glass. This is missing the glass and I'm curious what the dimensions are. I also can't figure out how it's installed.
4. The coin door was originally setup for 2 coin chutes and a dollar bill changer. The dollar bill changer is missing and there is a hole. Is there a place to buy blank plates?

I looked through the list of artwork found here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=98344.0) and MK2 cpo and cp side art is in the list.

Thanks, I messaged him, but haven't heard back when I can download. Was hoping for another source.

Yea, looks like he hasn't been online since early March. Didn't realize that earlier.

EDIT: Looks like if you join artwork.joymonkey.com (donation of $10) you can have access to the artwork (at least some of what you're looking for).

OK, so the glass is 26 5/8ths" by 25". It slides up in front of the screen and goes up a little behind the speakers, the bottom sits on the little wood shelf that sticks out at the bottom. The L shaped metal piece that goes under that little "shelf" (picture) screws in from the bottom to hold the glass in place.

Pic is of my KI cab, but its exactly the same as an MKII

No need for all of that. I figured since you were such a huge MK fan, you'd know a shop that sells these brackets. If I can get by with a L bracket I will.

Thanks!

where are you located?  I have a spare if you are in Ma.  Cost of shipping would prob be more than cost of making your own so pick up would only make sense

Are you 100% sure about these measurements? The width is good at 25", but the height appears to be off by a couple inches or I need 1/8th inch glass to slide up more behind the speakers.

How does 25x25 3/8ths sound?

I already have this 25x26 5/8ths piece and I just can't see it fitting unless it can somehow slide up over 1" inside the speaker area.

the glass slides up behind the speakers, ends up about 1/4 in from the piece of wood. I trid to take a pic with the tap measure, tough to do one handed. Looks like mebbe it was 5/16ths, my bad.  it would still fit =)

Man, I appreciate the effort. Let me give it another shot.

The only section of the back of the cabinet that can be removed is the lower half. The top half appears to be stapled in, so I'm trying to install the glass entirely from the front.

you do it from the front. put the top in, and slide up, sit it on the little shelf with the notch. then install the metal L bracket over top of it, easy peasy

Yeah, it's not working out that way for me.

Can anyone else confirm the glass size on their MK2 cabinet? You have multiple cabinets right Malenko? Any chance you're coming through St. Louis anytime soon?  :)

Is there a meat up? Would you show? I kid I kid.
Want a youtube vid made or something? I mean you gotta have it a tight angle to slide it up. I measured the KI1, KI2, and MKII cabs, all 3 are the same size bro. Make sure you have the 25" as the horizontal?

I can confirm Malenko's measurements.  I just orderded and installed a piece of glass for one of my two Midway cabinets.

Ok. Thanks for sticking with me, I found the issue.

I purchased the cabinet a few weeks back and it didn't have glass in it. The top part where the glass slides in was wedged and didn't allow enough room for the glass to slide up so I figured either the glass was too thick or to tall. I pryed the top piece free and I'm able to install the glass now.

Whew! That was a close call. Almost had to meat up with Malenko.

Not too many ways to spin the meat talk.
