I'm seeing so many European versions of well-known games lately that I thought it might be fun to open a thread about them. It may also be fun to show some "general"/Jamma cabs from Europe.
Please post whatever you got....
Here's my first:
Caterpillar, of course a Centipede bootleg (from Italy) This is actually for sale now here...:
I stole the 2nd pic from KLOV because I really dig that side-art !!!
-
Mechanized Attack by SNK. This one has full-size art and kick-plate art. Both are different from the "regular" US (?) version:
-
OK, this one is a bit out of my scope, I hate Photoplays, but I thought this looked kinda nice:
-
This one looks like a pretty recent Jamma cab. Not too bad looking...
-
Posted this one already in my "asteroids" thread, but thought it is interesting enough to re-post here:
A direct Asteroids clone, most likely a bootleg by HOEI international (this is WRONGLY indicated here:
http://www.arcadeflyers.com/?page=thumbs&db=videodb&id=2394)
-
Guess what clone this is (General cab though):
-
Not sure if it's a Euro thing, but I haven't seen a Taito Moon Cresta before:
-
Cosmic Monsters Cocktail by Universal. CHEAP. If it wasn't over 5 hours driving (one way) I'd get it....
-
Very poor quality pictures but pretty weird: Galactica. Likely an Italian cab.
Game in it is (bootleg) Time Pilot.
-
I posted this already in the "most ugly cab ever" thread but it fits here as well:
This is a typical Belgian universal cab. Looks to be meant to blend in with the rest of the bar's interior :D
-
Cisco Heat Upright - Jaleco:
-
Weird but nice somehow ! This one is fully in metal !!!! (And heavy)
-
Rolling Video
First thought this was an unknown game, but it's a Neo Geo cab:
-
Pong clone cocktails ! Probably German built. Color and more games :)
-
Am I boring you guys or should I keep it up ?
Here's a nice Official German Lady Bug (this is for sale over here, someone save it !! I'm outa space):
-
A 1977 Exidy Circus,
not a Euro version, but also for sale here !!
[EDIT] This IS a Euro cab, it's an officially licensed cab by Zaccaria.
-
Also for sale, and not listed on KLOV: Walls Down, yes a break-out clone/bootleg....
-
Special Criminal Investigation (one of the many Euro Taito (race) cabs that have better side art then the US versions, IMHO.)
-
Continental Circus. This is called Continental CirCUIT in the US....
-
Space Invader (yes without the s):
-
Just when you thought you'd seen them all:
A German built race sit-down...thing....it's supposed to "swivel".
Called Nurburg-ring, after the famous German race-circuit.....
Look at the electronics !!!!!!! It's for sale......but defective, what a surprise....
-
:notworthy: I would love to have that "SPACE INVADER" & "METEOR" (asteroids clone) wonder where i can find one? :dunno
-
I like the moon cresta one :applaud:
-
The Space Invaders went very quickly off the advertising site, so I bet it got sold.
I know who has that Meteor now......and uhm, let's say that I have some hope of adding it to my collection in the future..... :)
-
Phoenix. Looks like a Zaccaria cab to me.
What a fabulous side-art, compare it to the boring US-version !
But, but....what kind of "joystick" is that ??
-
Universal Galaga ??
WTF ???????
-
Giant.....yeahhhhhh, 16:9 fun......that is .....stretched out pictures....
-
Kimme Korn.
German shooting thing....
-
Space Empire.....wonder what clone this is....
[EDIT] I thin this one was built by Hoei International (just like the Meteor (Asteroids clone).
I think this because:
1) exactly the same start buttons
2) the same T-molding
3) exactly the same coin door and mechs.
-
Universal Galaga ??
WTF ???????
That cabinet is a Universal Zero Hour.
-
Bally-Midway Pleiads ??
French text on the CP. Also the extra button seems to be added later (across the text).....weird...
-
Condor (=Phoenix clone but with a fuel option added. KLOV says this is the first game with that feature (and not Scramble).
Look at the player 1 and 2 buttons ! Nicely recessed. Looks a bit like Atari vulcano's....
I first thought the side-art was damaged, but it looks the same on both sides.....weird.
-
Nice idea :applaud:
I think I can add some:
1) wall mounted Lady Bug (according to the upright machine you posted)
2) Zaccaria licensed Scramble
3) Take Off, a copy of Rip Off
More to come...have to take some pics :)
-
so much nice side-art... :applaud: :applaud:
-
Thanks Luigi !
I >LOVE< that Scramble art !!! Italian design at it's best :D
That Take-Off side art recycles the alien of the original art of the Japanese Namco Galaxian cab (of which a European version was also built in Italy) !!!:

Already found some more pics, will upload them later...

This is a first for me:
German-built cocktail:

-
Upon reading this it got me thinking. What is up with all the bootlegs from Italy?
-
Thank you so much for posting these. I've enjoyed the art on most all of these. From what I've seen on the web there doesn't seem to be a lot documented about euro cabs. It's great to see so many in one place.
-
Thanks, it's nice when anyone actually says they enjoy it.....i'll try to keep it up :)
-
Lady Bug in Italian Zaccaria cab. Not sure but I guess it's a licensed game since they used the original name:
By the way, check out this site for lots of Zaccaria cabs:
http://www.zaccaria.org.uk/gallery.htm
-
Mini Klaxx. German built I guess.
Looks like ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- but probably a license.
-
Guerrilla. Which game was this in the US ?
-
Scramble......hey I've seen that side-art before ! It was on the Zaccaria Phoenix too :) :
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76571.msg815635#msg815635
This one is clearly missing the original bezel which makes the color-feast complete....
-
Guerrilla. Which game was this in the US ?
Oh, that's gotta be Ikari Warriors or something like it. Note the similarity in theme and art, and the rotary sticks.
-
Guerrilla. Which game was this in the US ?
Guerrilla War is the US name if I'm not mistaken.
-
Cab looks totally boring, has the freaking sucking terrible suzo joysticks but interesting bezel.....
-
Uh,.....I guess nobody understood, there should have been a picture of course.
Here we go:
(Asked seller for more pics, he replied but forget to attach them to the e-mail.....)
-
I bet this is a Sprint 2 bootleg:
I don't know why, but I like it :)
By the way, is there still any interest here for this thread ? I'm thinking about moving it to KLOV forum as it seems more appropriate there.....
-
And since we're doing real oldies:
Tenniscoop 2
Yes, just another Pong clone but there are some special things about it.
First, it's a Bally, but built in Belgium ! (I know Bally did build Bingo's there but didn't know about videogames).
It has analogue joysticks so obviously you can move left and right too, which I'd consider a less desirable "option" on a Pong game.
The machine looks REALLY nice. Built in 1974 and has been in sellers hands for 20 years which probably explains it's nice condition.
The monitor has a Philips tube and still looks great (Dutch quality :D) Look at the weird place for the HV cup !
The chassis looks nice and basic too :D

Keep it going here. ;)

I think most of you know that I love the German wall machines and so I'm very proud today to present you these great pictures of a fully working Meteor (bootleg Asteroids) machine by ADP/Gauselmann. It's running a bootleg game board. The Roms show "Astroimpact" instead of Asteroids as title but otherwise the ROMs are identical. The monitor is a G05-805. I think it looks absolutely stunning !
Look at the controls :D

Here's how a Frogger cab should look like, this _really_ puts the ugly Sega/Gremlin US cab to shame:
Licensed NSM release !
-
More of this lovely Frogger !
-
I love the exploding frog side art!
-
Love it. Do you know the size? Looks like a cabaret (but then size in photos can be deceiving)
-
No idea but I guess it's smaller than your regular (US) sized cab. Euro cabs tend to be a bit more compact. It's probably bigger than a cabaret though and I assume the monitor is 19".
-
Remember this one ?
Space Invader (yes without the s):
Another one (I think) surfaced !!! Better pics:
Pic 1: I like it ! It's only 150 cm's high acc. to the seller
Pic 2: Looks like the monitor needs some work, but there is some kind of mirror set-up like the original
Pic 3: Aha, so that is how Logitech started ;)
-
wow,..those wall mount cabs are nice!...would love to have that asteroids. :notworthy:
-
Yeah, I was running for it but got in 2nd place. It went to Austria IIRC.
-
Just wanted to point you to two Euro cabs that are interesting enough (I think).
Euro Donkey Kong (Germany, licensed):

Some very nice Euro cabs found by ChrisChris:
Some Space Invaders bootlegs I've seen before, but that 1st Super Invaders (with cool Star Wars bootleg art) is new to me !

I esp. like the Galaxie 2 and Pull Down cabs:

Nice thread this is, and I would like to share some pictures of machines I have.
The first one is a generic cabinet that was very common in Sweden (and probably the rest of Scandinavia) since it was built in Denmark by a company called JK Automater. There were different models with different sized screens. This one is a "deluxe" model with bigger screen and stereo speakers.
The most common model had a single speaker and a smaller screen. However the smaller screen was very easy to rotate, so within a minute you can swap from VER to HOR position.
The second cabinet is generic NSM made in Germany. A bit smaller but larger than a cabaret model. I don't know if it is just this one, or if the Germans always made their own standard, rather than use a JAMMA harness internally. It took me a while to do an adapter... It is easy to rotate the screen in this one too.
And the third one, is a license built wall mount Break Out cabinet. I heard rumours about that there is also Canyon Bomber and other Atari models out there. Unfortunately my machine has a broken tube neck, so I have never played it. Trying to find a new (10") tube for replacement. The PCB is however original and looks to be in good condition.
This one is also designed for convenient screen rotation.
-
This thread is awesome. It is like looking at cabinets from some alternate reality. Really cool stuff.
I especially enjoyed the Q*Bert road trip thread. I'm anxious to get through his restoration thread as well.
-
Am I boring you guys or should I keep it up ?
Here's a nice Official German Lady Bug (this is for sale over here, someone save it !! I'm outa space):
I know one of those, are they desireable?
