Title: My 2nd Arcade Cabinet - Finished enough to think about a 3rd (mini 24" vert)
Post by: Acids on May 20, 2012, 06:12:22 am
Hey all, I've been lurking around these parts for Many Many years and I still get amazed looking at the amazing cabinets people make / convert or restore
I wish i had a 10th of the patience of some of you.

Anyway, My first cab was a Neo Candy which has been played to death and then when i moved stored in the garage.
( Its still there but it most likely doesn't go any more )

I've just put this together for the flatmates.   Amazing what's possible with just a few tools and a reasonable eye.
I wish i had access to a cnc machine i would go crazy :)
Not a lot of actual measuring gone on here, mostly that looks right kind of thing.

Still work in progress but a fully playable start  :)
This also means any work will slow WAAAAYYYY down as its getting played by everyone!!

Sorry about the pics.  Iphone camera and me dont mix well.

Update -

Added picture of control panel art   ( Graphics borrowed from the interwebs )
This was printed on Self-adhesive matte finish vinyl and i think it looks cool and i hope it lasts.

The only downside to this i can think of is i will have to do a reasonable paint job or it will look out of place.
(  Wish me luck as I don't have a huge amount of patience )

pretty awesome, nice vewlix style cabinet. Is that a 16:10 screen in there? Slightly OT but was your neo candy bought or do you make this by hand using mdf?

Neo Candy was a restore.   new screen and internals etc.
It was just a old fibreglass shell when i got it.
I built-up internal framing with mdf as i didn't have access to metal and tools.
Unfortunately its now Super heavy.

I Was at the right place at the right time when i got that.

thanks for the comment.  I like it.  :D
Screen was a freebie from work and it was spare so this seemed a good use for it.

Ok added finished - Ish pic to first post.
I suspect this is where this will stay for along time unless i fell like over-hauling the cabinet.

Its simple clean and works.

Hyper spin V2 would be nice ????     :dunno
