Title: Help? 12-14" IPS Laptop screen for a small PIcade..
Post by: Canadianeh on March 28, 2018, 02:02:44 pm
This is my first post there.

Ive been lurking for awhile and doing a lot of reading..   I am going to build several 2 player PI based arcades for friends and family.     I have already stockpiled many dell 2007 and HP 2065 monitors with the LM201U05  IPS panels..

But as a first build i would like to make a much smaller  single person 12-14" arcade for my sons to use.

curious if anyone has found a great fast response IPS screen to use from a laptop or something.  I debated using a screen from a Tablet, but they usually are expensive, where as often you can get laptops at throw away prices..

Thank you for the help!!

Cheers

IPS didn't really come about until after the widescreen wars of 2010.

all seriousness, it was asked before and small IPS panels are STUPID expensive studio monitors and whatnot...where even a small 17" IPS was in the $4000.00 range.

Im guessing you mean IPS in Laptop screens didn't come out until after 2010 correct?

As I have the Dell 2007 and the HP 2065 20" versions with IPS lcd panels   from 2006-2008

I have been looking specifically for older IBM R50 , T42, T43 and T60 Thinkpads, From research they all had IPS screens... just not sure of the response time and if they were any good for an arcade like this.

Anyone use one of these before?
