Title: Magic Sword bartop
Post by: popsicle on July 19, 2021, 12:07:26 pm
This was a graduation gift for a co-worker's son. Nothing groundbreaking here - rpi 3 and some old 4:3 HP monitor I rescued from a work dumpster. Happ competition joystick and assorted buttons from GGG, and artwork printed from GameonGrafix. Mostly leftover wood parts, including disassembled bunk bed stairs my kids no longer need. I love reusing whatever I can for these projects. Even some of the screws from this bunk bed were used, and the rounded edge of the stair (and the thickness) made a perfect control panel. For the top, I found wood grained 5/8" laminated shelving at Ace hardware. Plays a carefully curated list of mame, 2600, and Genesis games.

When I cut and routed the sides I went ahead and made myself a taller set for a similar vertical bartop, which I will build the same as the Commando bartop (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,163717.msg1725139.html#msg1725139) I made for my brother. Thinking a Phoenix theme for this one.

Wow - this thing looks great.  Nice and clean.  Another example of artwork elevating a project.  Very nice job!
