I am a complete Newb. I just got a MKII game for Christmas. It is in great condition. The only problem is I have a speaker buzz that wont go away. It gets worse when there is white on the screen (?!).
I checked and all my ground wires appear to be fine. I would greatly appreciate any help..Im lost. :dunno

It could be bad pcb, it could also be some radio interference somewhere, it's hard to say from here.
-
Does it sounds like 60 cycle hum? (The type you'd get from ungrounded equipment) Or does it change frequency? (ramp up or down)
-
Well, it gets worse depending whats on the screen (?!). For example, when "Midway Presents" comes up it's worse. Somebody suggested it may be my marquee light. I took the bulb out but I didnt actually unhook it.

Housefly?
:laugh2:

Nice one...I wish it was, I at least know how to stop that.
-
It Sounds...hehehe...no pun intended...well...I think your power supply might have AC ripple?
-
If you unplug your monitor do you still hear the sounds?
-
Thanks for the suggestion. Im going to try that tonight.

Also check that the mainboard wires are fully seated in the sound board (power and ribbon). That's kinda obvious but worth a look.
Maybe also make sure all Roms are firmly seated and the main board second half PCB is connecting on all pins. I had a graphic problem from that half board on the main board not fully connected.

I unplugged my monitor and still had the buzzing noise. I am going to look over the boards and chips again to..I may have overlooked something. I have a new board coming, I wanted a backup.. :censored:

Power supply perhaps?
I've known transformers to buzz sometimes.
Don't know why but I just got this image of
Optimus Prime drinking a case of Bud!

:laugh2:
Thats great.
How difficult is a power supply to change? If I keep going like this I will have a completely new game...over what's probably a bad ground.
