Title: MVS Question

So, If I buy an MVS system arcade cabinet, I can buy any game for it and plug it in, just like a console?

Also, does the board size for how many it can hold just mean how many games can be played at once without interchanging?

Yes....Yes, the multi slots have a select button to go between games.

So...........you think I should buy one of these bad boys?  How many games are available, and when was it first realeased?  Also, are they still making games for it?

Most of the NEO GEO (MVS) games are fun.

There are alot of games. Check out this  link for an idea of how many games and see the screen shots in case your aren't familiar with the title.

I'm selling a 4 slot MVS mobo currently for $200 shipped in the US. PM me if interested. I could prolly toss in a game to go with it to sweeten the deal.

Since I know nothing about the technics of wiring, etc, what would I do with the motherboard?  Put it in an existing cabinet, or build one?

MVS is a variation of the JAMMA std.

If you have a JAMMA cab you simply plug it in and  make one wire modification. Sites like HARD MVS previously mentioned have info on this.

Yes you should buy one, mine gets as much or more play than my MAME cab. There are a ton of games available for it. I don't believe that new games are still being commercially produced, but there are a ton of them out there.

Also, do all the games use the same standard control panel?  In other words, is it kind of like a console, where you just "plug and play"?

The NEO GEO has a huge following and as such there are varying degree's on cost of a CART. A Full kit (original box, art, cart, etc) typically is $100+ and loose MVS cart depending on game can run from $10 - $100 with the majority being sub $50 range.

Pretty much the same type of pricing variations you see with JAMMA boards, and for similar reasons.

All the Neo Geo game use the same control panel with ONE exception. That exception is "The Irritating Maze", which can be pretty much ignored, it runs on Neo Geo hardware and is a Neo Geo cartridge, but it requires a motherboard with a different Bios, a special extra PCB, and a trackball control panel. So it IS Neo Geo, but it is best thought of as its own dedicated system.
