Title: new toys
Post by: crsdawg on May 05, 2005, 12:06:56 am
i just picked up a few games last week and i thought i'd share.

i've been after a star castle for a while and finally found a working one. the cab is a loss but it will do until i find a better one. the gravitar is really nice and cleaned up well. once i get a new cpo on it and fix the player 2 cone switch i'd say it's a 9.

nest to those is an astro blaster that has seen better days, a caberet that will be a mame project, and an empty nintendo cab that will be my dedicated nintendo mame. you can't see but i also have a couple turbo cabs behind those which will also be mame/sim projects.

it's going to be a busy summer.

Then let me be the first to say " Congratulations!......(bast*rd!)"  ;D

Seriously though, you should have a lot of fun on your hands.  I envy those Turbos!

If you will put a quarter mech on that Star Castle, I'll stop by once in a while and contribute to your cabinet building fund ;) I would really like to have a working Star Castle...

Nice score!

There are a couple of guys in Joplin that are selling games. They had at least 1, maybe 2 Star Castle cabinets in December. I'll PM you the phone #.

Dave.

i'm not really looking to sell either of the turbos. i'm planning to build a dual sitdown set-up so i'll need them both. i do have several upright projects i'd sell/trade tho.

What about the boardsets out of the Turbos?

the only working pcb i have is in this:

all my other boardsets(i've gone through 5 of them now) either show garbage or have sprite problems. i've had a hell of a time getting that turbo working.

i just brought in the star castle:

you can see some of the cabinet problems behind the t-molding on the bottom. i was able to get the cabinet back together, and it cleaned up pretty well but those areas near the t-molding(same problem on both sides) would need a lot of work to fix. where the t-molding slot was cut, the wood split and the inner part has broken off. i've already found a couple replacement cabs, so i think that's the direction i'll go.
