I've made multiple posts, but i'm stuck at 250. could you please fix this Saint.
thanks,
Pete
-
6 posts later i'm at 251, i'm confused. I guess there is no promblem then
-
uh oh..... is this a test?
-
whew... all is well
-
Am I stuck at 696?
-
No, I thought I was, though.
-
I'm not stuck, but it seems for every 4 posts it only counts about 1 of them. Oh well, I'm not to concerend. If I don't watch how much time I spend here, I could end up with 6939.

Perhaps they installed a quality filter. Maybe every 4 of your posts really equals 1 good post.
HAHAHA! It's a joke see.... ;D

I believe that posts in the P&R section do not count towards your post count.

Correct.

theres so much crap in there i can side with that

if that were the case my post count would most likely be 3

I'm sure nobody call recall what those 3 good posts even where

Correct.
Why? That's kind of weird.

Because P&R is for sucks.
-
How the ---fudgesicle--- did I get so many posts if PnR don't count? ???
-
P&R counts for me.
Personally I don't think EE or P&R should count towards post counts.
-
P&R posts don't count. The vague idea is that if post count is a measuring stick as to your status on an arcade hobbiest web site, then boards that aren't arcade hobbiest related should raise that status. EE counts because everyone got really *REALLY* upset when we removed the post counts there. I don't pretend to understand.
Chad - your count is so high because you're a post whore. However, you're *our* post whore damnit, and there's nothing wrong with that!

And you just thought you had your posting under control. :laugh2:

Does that mean I am supposed to be getting paid? Or am I more of a post ---stingray---?

Just like in any other profession, whore's are paid for performance and "value." What do you feel you're worth? :)
-
More than I get, but as with any worthwhile profession, you have to love the work for it to be worth doing.

That's what she said.
-
Yeah, that was pretty much the joke, only without that punch line. :applaud:
-
I swear I've seen my post count go up in P&R. I guess not.

you throw enough rocks and you're bound get a hit one and a while.. ;D
-
Hmm. My position is that post count is an abominable measuring stick for anything other than number of posts. There are probably people here with 500 posts that can provide better answers to most arcade cabinet questions than me, yet here I am with 5000+ posts. I say turn them back on. It's not a big deal, really, but it is a little bit nice to be able to see how many posts I have made, and PnR posts are, in fact, posts I have made on this site -- discussions I have had with other members of the site. I mean, is my number of PMs not increased if someone sends me a non-arcade related PM?
-
I think we'll leave PnR off for now.
Shmokes,
you have 6,053 messages as of this post. Board current displays 5322.
-
I really need to stop spending so much time here. I'm getting behind at school and work :)
-
I think a 24 hour self-ban needs to be implemented. That way if you have a big project coming up at work, a test at school, whatever - you could ban yourself from byoac for the next 24 hours to get stuff done. The most productive I've ever been at work was when this site goes down. ;D
Seriously though, would this be doable?
-
That would be hilarious. I actually already block the site on my router sometimes, which sounds ridiculous because I can always go in and unblock it as easily as I blocked it. But that would be kind of fun if I could go into my account options and implement a irrevocable 24-hour ban. Of course it wouldn't stop me from reading, but it would stop me from posting which, to a large extent, would stop me from reading.

Heh, reminds of one of my roommates in college who put his computer monitor under his desk to stop himself from playing video games and to get his schoolwork done. Well, actually he refused to tell us why he put it under his desk, but thats the reason we assumed.
-
By the way, this is an awsome idea. It doesn't help the site in any way, but it would be a great public service to the addicts (like tobacco companies subsidizing the Truth* campaigns, I guess). I would actually love if I could ban myself for up to a week, for times like finals week, or when I've got a big project at work.
* It is a name only. The ads are not overly concerned with accuracy.
-
All it takes is an email to me :)
-
Can we ban him for a week too?
* the Truth ads are sponsored by tobacco companies as part of the class action settlements. The companies are sure as hell not doing it of their own volition.
-

So could you do complete IP blocking for a specified time, or just log-in blocking?
-
Either way :)
-
If you really tick saint off he does both plus cock blocking.
-
?
-

That won't work, cos I'll probably never do it.

I should sue BYOAC.
*shmokes gives Cyberpunk from mameroom.com a call*
