Title: Zippyy Joysticks Issue??
Post by: sairaag on October 01, 2015, 06:54:52 pm
I have mine set to 8 way and set, up, down, left and right but when I play any fighting game over mame I can't jump and move left and right its working only 4 way. Am I missing something?

Not sure what this actually means.  You have the restrictor set properly with the rounded square, not the clover leaf, right?  What do you mean "set, up, down, left and right"?

I can go left, up, down and right but I can't jump up and go right at the same time. top right, top left, bottom right and bottom left. So in street fighting I can't jump forward and kick! and it's an 8 way joystick and it's set to 8 way. But it's not working as 8 way just 4 way.

ipac 4

Huh, weird.  Well, the fact that you can go 4 way shows that the switches are working.  An IPac is damn near bullet proof.

Try taking the restrictor off completely and test to see what happens.

There is nothing in Mame that cares either way.  Even if you were to open your control settings and completely delete all directionals except for up, down, left, and right it would still work just fine.  I just test that actually.

You may want to "tune" (slightly bend) the lever arms on the microswitches.

The quote below was for someone trying to avoid diagonals with a 4-way restrictor, but the same advice applies in reverse (bend up instead of down) to hit a direction easier.
By slightly bending the lever arm, you change the distance that you have to move the joystick handle to make the actuator press the lever arm into the nub on the microswitch.

By bending the green zone down by just a bit on all the switches, you can tune the stick so that the diagonals are just out of reach.

Green zone = OK to bend
Red zone = Avoid bending
