Title: First Project--Mini bartop Donkey Kong Theme--
Post by: twc0209 on January 17, 2011, 09:30:48 pm
Hi Everyone.
I have been reading and trying to learn some on building cabs.
Well I'm going to try my hand at it and I am very sure mistakes will be made but that's life.
I would welcome any advice and help.
I have all the wood 1/2 inch ply.buttons and joystick.I bought a Jamma 60 in 1 board from a friend that was moving,I gave him 20 bucks for it.
Not a whole lot of money is going to be spent on this besides the art.I think I have all I need to get it done.
You guys are very talented and I just want to be half as good on my first.
Thanks.

leapinlew,I really enjoyed reading about your builds.Your Old School arcade looks like a DK cab.
Your Multi-Williams is one of my wife's favorites.

I would really like my bartop to be about the same size as your Galaga. My daughter loves that one,she wanted me to build one like that for her room.I told her we would see how this one goes.
I have several LCD monitors and will use one of those.17 to 19 inch is what I have.I wanted a 15 if I can find one.

I have to get the camera from the wife. But I will Post pics.

I read eaconner's build on his DK themed bartop.(Great bartop)
I saw he posted plans for it and almost a whole walk Through on how to build it.I really think I may borrow his plans and go with it.
My son wants it to look like a regular DK cab but in mini form.I told him we would have the DK art.
I have a hard time scaling things down or up.I can read and build by blueprints or plans to a T.
Any help or advice will be much appreciated.

Hey guys,
Yeah,I just got lucky to find out he was selling it.The bad thing was I really didn't know what it was.
Instead of me building a cab and doing some research,I'm going to buy a bar top cab from Pete from Mame machines.
My son and I still want the DK look but now it's going to look like a weird kong cab.Anyone who might have a idea about this, let me know.
Didn't they have a red DK arcade? If so we might go that way.it would still be DK and have a deep fresh look...
I do plan on documenting the build from start to finish.
I really need help on finding out how to get art for it.
I know I have read that some builders here on the forum, have there art printed at Kinko's and places like that.
We want to try that since this is a first.I know you can design it yourself.
We are now just waiting for the cab,we have all the buttons and goodies for it.I need to buy some T moulding, a piece of plexi and art.
Any ideas about the art or any advice will be very much helpful to us.We are wanting to learn all we can.
Thanks for a great forum.
