It is very simple!!! just run sk jukebox with the compatibility for windows 98........i did that and the program just stop to skip songs......but when you would like to change some options like adding a new directory you have to change the compatibility back to normal or the program will just exit........ok my friends!! try that and remember to reply and talk about your experience with this!!!

How do you run sjkukebox with win98 compatibility?
Jay

its simple!! just right click the skj icon .......click properties.....and then click compatibility....and there u will select to run it in win 98.......give it a try....and if it works reply!!! i want to know
-
well so far it's seem to work for me too.
Usually, I'm able to reproduce the "song skipping" bug after only a few songs (4-5).
But now, I've been playing about 20 songs and no skipping.
I'll confirm it next weekend, after further testing.
If this work, this would be a major "workaround". This was probably the major bug left in skjukebox (IMO).

i had notice that when skj is in win98 compatibility mode some times it give u an error while updating the database.....some times it frezes some times not.......but until now the jukebox is running just fine!!

After a week of testing at home and work, I confirm that the "win98 compatibility" workaround fixes my "song skipping" problem.
PS:
I also had the "database update" error even before I enable the win98 compatibility.
However, this doesn't happens frequently, so I'll live with it.
Thanks massanet

So far this trick works great for me too Jay......... forgetting about the skip song problems (NOW FIX USING THE WIN98 COMPATIBILITY) I can say that SKJ it is the best jukebox out there.... and best of all its FREE!!! SalmonKing rules!!! :notworthy:

oook... but mine boots and goes directly into SK, then i have to Q to go back to windows. Does this mean once I put it in the Win98 Comp mode I cant Q (quit) and i would have to start in safe mode to make changes.
Does anybody actually know why it hangs up? I know it is repeatable on mine if i select the same song...

Hi everyone.
I have found out why some skipping takes place. If you are using WMA files it skips every other track. Works fine with MP3's only. Hope this helps.
-
the songs that are skipping are mp3 and when i try windows 98 compatibility there is a error report and it wont open
any other ideas people

I've tried this Win98 mode fix but for me it causes another problem.
When I play a music video and hit say the "N" key to skip to the next song I then find that SK Jukebox will not respond to any other key input until I grab the mouse and click on the screen then I can press keys and they respond until I let the video play and then it won't respond until I click the screen again.
Anyone else have this problem?

You have limited bandwidth. Pandora runs out of buffer 90 seconds into the song, and when that happens it skips to the next song (because that is less annoying then having the song stop and start and stop over and over again).

It looks similar to the Mame loosing focus issue that I occasionally have.
Probably another process steals the focus??
