Title: My new cabinet
Post by: DFW2017 on December 28, 2017, 11:38:58 am
Could not have accomplished my build without lurking and reading a ton on this board.  Many thanks!

Here is my completed cabinet, although I still need to connect the buttons and trackball to the ipac2, and load up retropie & the ROMs.

Sorry for putting this in the wrong location initially; thanks for relocating it!

If anyone has any questions on the build, let me know.

Interesting thing you did with the front of the cabinet there.

Excellent work. I like the graphics. Especially how they wrap up under the soffit where the speakers are.

Question: what joysticks and dust washers are those? I see the dust washers light up. I want to build a cabinet where the dust washer area lights up like that but where the joy ball tops don't. My last cabinet has Ultimarc joy tops that light but the wires that go up the stick shaft break over time and then the top won't light. I'm thinking that lighting the joy top through the eshaft is too fragile for a daily cabinet my kids use and only lighting the dust washer area would be more sturdy.

Not sure if I'm allowed to link to the joysticks here, but if you search LED arcade joysticks on amazon they should come up. They come with the washers and shaft cover.
The base is illuminated and the transparent dust cover and shaft protector help direct/transmit the light upward toward the ball.  The actual ball is not illuminated, but since its translucent the light from below helps to make it appear as such.
