Title: "Politics 'n Religion" forum -- link from main menu?
Post by: PL1 on September 11, 2015, 04:41:50 pm
Several menu change suggestions have been made in the Retail Vendors subforum location (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,147121.0.html) about the "Politics 'n Religion" Forum.

1. Make it a child board of E.E with the standard child-board link at the top of E.E., like "Meet-Up" here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/board,6.0.html), and remove the main menu "P n' R" link. (higher visibility)

2. Make it accessible only through the index page, like the "PowerMAME" forum here (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php), by removing the main menu "P n' R" link. (lower visibility)

Let us know which you prefer as part of the larger plan to overhaul of the main menu and index page.   ;D

Leave it alone.   If it ain't broke.....

Add a child to PnR called post hell.  Makes interesting reading.

Please leave it locked unless a person requests it. I like it that way. I don't want PnR posts showing up as unread threads in Tapatalk.

No worries.

Saint already kicked that hornet's nest and decided that access should remain by request only.

This thread is just about where a PnR forum link shows up (or doesn't  ;D) in the menus.

I assumed as much but didn't want to assume.   :applaud:

Least visibility possible. Those that want it know how to get there. An open invitation to the PnR board and process to gain access in places like the wiki or rules pages is fine by me though. Not trying to dust it under the rug, but I would just prefer it not being part of the clutter when searching the various boards.

 :bump

Menu update very likely to happen soon.

What changes do you want to see?

Speak now or hold your peace.

THAT part isn't going to change, but the menus are.   ;D

Saint is testing the changes that poll respondents in this thread and posters in this thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,147121.0.html) asked for.
P&R is now a child of Everything Else. I'm ready to reorg the menu, someone give me the final verdict please.
You can see the updated menus here (http://forumsandbox.arcadecontrols.com/index.php) in the Sandbox.

Saint uses the Sandbox to test layouts and functionality before applying changes to the main site.

I'd kinda like to see a "HARDWARE" forum for discussions on different PC components. Your always seeing those "what should I buy" type of threads. Would be good to get a breakdown using various types of motherboards and chipsets and the components that would work best, or be most feasible for whatever given budget.

Won't get into politics and religion. I moderated a forum for several years dealing with such issues. Don't really feel such subjects are appropriate among geeky video game friends. They already destroy one too many Facebook friendships. Would rather keep my opinions to myself for the sake of keeping the peace.
