Hi all, my first build (what so ever..), a clone of http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76150.0 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=76150.0) with a few adjustments. Not as well built as the original, but hey.. :)
Current look:

Stuff to do:
Make a proper bezel
Add art + plexi to the CP
Add side art
Install a proper coin door
Maybe add some simple painting/art to the front
Complete progress can be found here: http://supertoom.com/slayer (http://supertoom.com/slayer)
Hope you all like it!

:applaud:
Very clean and authentic looking well done!
-
I kinda like it as is, minus art. Looks clean. I would add a coin door, like you mentioned, though.
-
Very clean build, nice and simple (in a good way) design - I like that it's also used for the frontend, givs it a very professional touch. Not too fond of the joystick bolts showing, though, but I realize that's a matter of taste.
Personally, I would add some control panel art...
I just reread your original post. Sorry, it's late and I'm dog tired...
-
Thanks for the kind words!
Yeah I'm defenitly gonna hide the bolts on the CP with some cover art + plexi/lexan. And it's gonna look much better with a real coin door!
For the sides I'm not sure yet, one idea is to use the same sunburst as in the FE background, white againts the grey background (think: japanese war flag), nothing complicated, still clean and simple.

Nice work. I love the shape of your cab (but then I would ;) )
-
looks great.
Very clean.
I think adding anything else would ruin it..

I think it looks better with the coin door that you have, honestly.
I agree with these statements enough to hit the quote button. I think the cabinet looks really sharp the way it is.
-
Very nice color choices. If you DO go with side art, may I suggest you put a border around it that matches your t-mold color? But I agree with the good folks here that it looks very nice without any artwork as well. The coin door you have right now looks very decent.
-
UPDATE: Finally got around to make a new control panel! What do you think?
So what's left to do:
- New coin door (got one from Ebay on the way)
- New monitor bezel
- Side art
-
I like it! The way you've incorporated the P1 and P2 start buttons etc. into each players' side looks cool. :applaud:
-
I guess it's only the picture, but the left stick looks a bit off center on the artwork. I'd go for clear washers for the sticks, as those black ones take away from the overall look. Anyway, :applaud:

Wait. You can get clear washers? Where might I find these washers of clear goodness, of which you speak?

arcadeshop.de has some I think, or it might have been lizard lick. I was looking at both sites that day. I know it was one of the two.
-
I like it, and I will try to remember to add it to the homepage with the other good cabinets based on Project MAME.
Cheers
-
Got a new coin door from Ebay (with a modified button to start up the whole thing) and a shiny Lexan screen bezel. Only side art left!

Very nice.
I love the simplicity of the control panel.
great work
-
Love this one and the frontend work! I really like the subdued color scheme with a slim profile. Seems like it would fit many rooms nicely. :notworthy:

How big is your monitor? Also, what are the dimensions?
This is pure beauty. I love it
-
Nice clean build.
What is the white push button on the side of cabinet for?
-
Nice clean build.
What is the white push button on the side of cabinet for?
Very likely, pinball. There is likely another on the other side.
-
Nice clean build.
What is the white push button on the side of cabinet for?
They are for use in pinball games, mainly Visual Pinball and a few PC games (Pro Pinball).

Thanks! :)
The monitor is a regular 17" 19" LCD. I don't have the exact dimensions of the cabinet at the moment, but if my memory doesn't fail me the hight is around 160 cm, width 60 cm and depth also around 60 cm.

Great - knew was a dumb noob question :-[ I still have lots of learning to do ;)

This is a really sweet interpretation of Rasmus' orginal Project MAME. You should definitely send him a photo for the Project MAME gallery. (http://www.koenigs.dk/mame/eng/otherprojectmames.htm)

Asked a friend (http://happykarl.tumblr.com/ (http://happykarl.tumblr.com/)) to do a drawing for the side art. I decided not to print the sides, instead I'll paint em. The result (just one side done so far):
