Virtual Pinball Controls?
Dazz:
I'm tellin' ya... This is the way to go if you want to use a real plunger. http://www.johnsretroarcade.com/hardware_pinball.asp
drventure:
That's pretty slick. But at the end of the day, it's just an on off switch too.
Here's what mine looks like.
easy, cheap, no soldering, works the same in effect.
I wish there was an easy way to hook a real plunger up to a joystick or pot somehow to get a true "pull back distance" reading, as if you were moving a joystick up and down. Not sure how you might do that though without a completely custom plunger.
DashRendar:
Drventure, is that a leaf switch I see behind your plunger?
Dazz, I've looked over that. I guess I was looking for a pre-built solution. While I have a lot of technical saavy, I haven't played with circuit boards and that type of electronics for a LONG time. But it looks like most of that stuff can be bought at Radio Shack, so maybe it wouldn't be as hard to go that route.
I would ideally like a plunger control that senses the pull to determine the force of the ball launch. Dazz's solution seems to emulate that to a degree.
