Yes, gently.
You could have burnt components, or broken traces... a picture could help in identifying bad parts.

ok. I will work on this. I am honestly deathly afraid of touching anything inside this cabinet as I don't want to shock myself. Is there anything I should do before removing the board?

The monitor is what could shock you. the boards and controls, not so much. Just unplug the machine first, and you'll be fine.

Before getting the board out, first push that connector back in place and power up.
