| Does E-touch/Freebox have size limitations? |

Does E-touch/Freebox have any limitations, whether it be number of folders, number of files, size of hard drive, size of data, etc.? I'm in the process of previewing ETouch and I currently have over 2000 folders/albums on a 400GB HD. Now, I know all my tagging is way off, but when I open ETouch and scroll through the main menu, using the 'More' buttons, I count an estimated 348 folders (would be 'album' covers). Am I missing something? -HanoiBoi |

Hi mate, The tagging is likely to blame, e-touch is pretty strict with this. I have had the best results with Album Player for when tags aren't that great, that and also one called touchjams. I like both. When I make jukeboxes for friends I put touchJams on them because its fairly easy to use. For my own I prefer album player though |

Your jukebox will really only be as good as your tagging is. There are plenty of tools to auto-extract tags based on filename/directory structure if you've organized that way (Tag & Rename is my #1 recommended choice), but you can only really expect a well organized, easy to use jukebox structure once your tags are straightened out. I had nearly 100GB of music that I did on a saturday.. It's kind of tedious, but with tools like Tag & Rename that allow you to pull down song/art/track information from Amazon and do all of it at once, it's not bad once you get into a rhythm. I strongly recommend taking the time to get your tags in order. You won't regret it. Also, create a workflow for NEW music. Any new music you grab should go into an "Uncategorized" or "Untagged" folder. Process the tags, have tag & rename "rename" the files into the directory structure you're using, then drag and drop into your main music root. Once you get this set up, adding new music is a breeze, and your jukebox will always be in order. |

Hey guys, Thanks much for the replies. I d/l Album player and it sure organizes my stuff better than ETouch right off the bat. I used it's Auto Lookup for covers and have been able to locate about 1300 in the past couple days. I hear ya about getting into a rhythm! What I'm not crazy about is Album Player's search, especially in Touch Screen mode. So, I'll keep looking.... I will definitely look into Tag & Rename. That sounds like exactly what I need! I have to be honest, I don't really understand 'tags'. I've always just put the .mp3 files into an album folder. My portable players (Archos) never used tags and the ones that could, I disabled. When I listen to music, I like to do so as full albums, so I never sorted by genre, year, etc. Perhaps that's my downfall. :( -HanoiBoi |
