Question about capacitors
(1/2) > >>
Mike:
I have a capacitor that has gone bad on a board. The capacitor is a tantlum 1mfd 25V. I can't find a replacement for it. I don't know a whole lot about capacitors. I was wondering if anyone knew of a different one that I could put in there instead. Happs sells a tantlum 1mfd 35v I don't know if that will work or not. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Beley:
yes, you can replace a 1uf 25v with a 1uf 35v

I assume you acually mean 1 micro farad (1uf) not 1 mili farad (1mf).
tmasman:
I know nothing of these sorts of electronics,
but have you tried http://www.mouser.com Mouser Electronics?

They've got the biggest selection of electronics parts I've seen.
(But I still couldn't find a 1mfd capacitor...)
I'm thinking maybe Beley had the right idea (1uf, not 1mf).

Good luck.
Mike:
Thanks for that website. That never came up in my search on google. They have the capacitor it is mf not uf. It's a really tiny capacitor. That and a tranistor went bad. Now I should be able to get everything fixed and ordered from one place so I don't have to pay 2 different places $5 to ship me 30 cent parts.
grafixmonkey:
Just dug back and noticed this thread...  if you're still having the "mfd" vs. "uf" vs. "microfarad" confusion, mfd is actually just another way of saying microfarad, and is the same as uf
