Is it possible that you played a conversion cocktail cabinet? Could it have been a Missile command converted to Atari Football for instance? Just a thought... :dunno

Hummmm
I have just googled and had a look at a Missile command cocktail cabinet and I think the screen was the other way around :-\
Also because it was in 1984/5 ish... I don't think they would cut up a missile command cabinet would they :dunno
Where would be the best place to look for a Tehkan world cup cocktail cabinet for sale?

Operators did what they had to in order to make money. You're talking crash era, so cabs got converted all the time.

There were a lot of cocktails out there around that time. If the original wasn't making money, it would only take a few hours to cut it up and make it something else. I was just thinking Missile Command because it already had a trackball. I didn't look at the cab to verify it would match your description.

Looking through different tables this table would be a likely candidate if a conversion was made......

This would also explain why I remember the roller ball being under the screen, which did make game play a little more difficult due to the lack of space around the ball.
