So, what you're saying is that you're blowing us all away & you're not even attempting to use any sort of strategy.

That qualifies you for official poopiehead status!   :P

Well, every time I attempt a strategy it gets me thinking too much and I make mistakes.  If I play without thinking then it's kind of automatic and I do better.

This is the Teris I grew up with.  I never really got the hang of versions where you could turn the blocks in both directions, or move them after they've landed.  I also play in monthly Tetrinet tournaments at my local LAN, so I keep in practice.

Here's a recording I just made of my play style using Mame32 v0.129.

Just got 177,878 with 142 lines.

I recorded an INP, but I'm not sure if it'll play back properly.  At round 16, the game starts using initials from the high score table as a pattern for blocks at the start of the round.  As the game appears to retain the high scores between sessions, playing it back on someone else's computer would give them a different layout for round 16.  :-\

Anyway, screenshot:

So, which initials are optimal, as far filling in the bottom of the screen goes?

I figure III would be a bad set of initials...  :]

I don't know if Tetris uses NVRAM, but if it does, if you don't delete it first before recording an INP, it won't playback properly. I've been using WolfMAME 106 (which disables NVRAM by default) so most games playback ok (Klax was one that wouldn't, you also needed to disable the sound emulation, and it *might* playback). Anyway, I don't know how you guys do it. I played about a half dozen games and every one of them, I couldn't clear the first wave where the lines advance up occasionally. All my scores were in the 70-75K range.
