on the mounting-pictures siderails are loose, not yet attached with screws.
there is just a foam-strip (1mm) on the siderails to protect the screen sideways a little bit.

Chris-

I'd be interested to know what interface you used for the cabinet buttons? THat is- flippers, game select, etc- to interface with the computer.

Thanks!

Dude,

where exactly are you from?
Being located near Karlsruhe (along with some other MAME folks) and seeing your Teufel Speakers in the background I needed to ask you this question.
Great pin you have built.

Best,

Awesome man, I saw this over @ hyperspin & made my first post because of it.

Now I wait for a widebody WMS cabinet to surface... impatiently.

Post more vids dude, dont be stingy :-)

The plunger connects to the IO board...the board is connected via USB. Not sure why that is so hilarious  ???

The connector to the IO board does look like a SATA connector.  Not that that answers your original question.

Will you please post the exact model number of that Sharp 46" LCD ?

Also, will you please post the dimensions of a "standard wide body pinball cabinet".   I am not familiar with pinball cabinets and would like to know so I can go searching for one.  I am assuming the wide body would be the dimensions of the playing field.

He actually posted it earlier in the thread, but it's easy to overlook.  It's a Sharp Aquos LC-46D65E.

Chris77, you might want to consider updating your original post with model numbers for future visitors.

jigenjuke, the 19" lcd is mounted via adjustable mounting angles/brackets.

here are 2 shots of the dmd monitor

unclet, the playfield dimensions of newer bally/williams widebody machines (like my star trek tng) are approximately 108cm x 63cm (outside). The exact model number of the playfield screen is: Sharp Aquos LC-46D65E

I am not really happy with the nanotech motion/plunger stuff, so I bought this second hand terminator/star trek gun assembly for replacement.

After some paint and restoration it looks like

I think this is a great (and working) enhancement for such gun-games like T2, STTNG (moveable canons), LW3 (gun videomodes) or simply for Indy, cactus canyon, guns n roses..... as well suitable for any other pinball tables (power sensitive ball-shooting possible)

ive got also some solenoids/knockers (force feedback) and 3 tilt-assemblys for nudging. I am curious how it works. more to come soon.

Furthermore I think about a black powder coated lockbar, legs and siderails...

what do you think?

Did you swap the texture on that gun?

Anyway the black powder coat looks good... prob a lot of effort & money with little reward tho.... then again it may tie it all together more so.

I noticed you said "& working" as if the nanotech part isnt reliable & based on the fact you are not utilizing it maybe that thing sucks?

Please explain if you dont mind, my pinball buddy is holding the next widebody cab he sees for me so it will be my turn to make one of these soon.... I wouldnt want to buy something weak.

I am not satisfied with it and after several days of calibration/fine adjusting I gave up. It is simply to much beta for my taste. the plunger works only with a few tables und calibration is a pain in the ass.

if there were a better software/firmware, it would be perfect (e.g. adjustable deadzones, manual calibration with fix values and the possibility to switch off motion seperatly,...)

pinballwizard79, I have 2 guns for testing. A star trek and a terminator gun

thanks for your kind words!

at the moment I am testing 2 industry relays for force feedback. the noise and the feedback is very close to a real flipper. I will make a resistance test.

I have installed 2 tilt-assemblies for nudging, too

here you can see the industry relay.

heres a shot of the STTNG gun. I love that gun! gives a new experience to all gun-games.

everything is connected to an IPAC now. the Nanotech stuff is terminated :D

Guys,
Question on vpforums downloads. There are "spawned" and "full screen" cabinet tables available. What happens if a "full screen" table used on a three-monitor setup. Anything displayed on the backbox monitor?

Thanks

I was going to start another arcade machine project soon, but this may change my plans... would you mind disclosing the total cost for those of us who are feeling ambitious?

3 LCD TVs (one of them being a 46 inch) and a 550 watt power supply, I wonder how much power this thing sucks down?

@ reko
with a 3-monitor-setup, visual pinball displays the playfield, hyperpin the backglass and pinmame the scoreboard/dmd.
most of the spanned tables you can easily modifiy for a 3-monitor-setup.

@ XYXZYZ
the total power consumption is about 550 watt.
the most power is for the old 30" noname LCD-TV (>200 watt). 46" only 100 watt and the pc 200 watt averagely. 19" TFT, soundsystem... 50 watt.

most of this stuff was actually already there, so its hard for me to estimate the correct total cost.

Hi Chris, I joined up here just because of your project!
I am a collector of REAL pinball machines and always hated the idea of playing pinball on a computer screen sitting at a desk, but you have gone the extra mile I think was needed to bring me over to the dark side, and I plan on copying your setup.

Two questions for now...
-Do you have measurements for milling the side for recessing the playfield monitor flush with the cabinet?
-It appears that because of the playfield monitor you had to move the flipper buttons DOWN a bit to clear it.
Does this affect the 'feel' of playing a game since the buttons aren't in the usual place?

Thanks in advance, I'll be bugging you more down the road...

Spencer

hey spencer,

it's better to take the correct measurements directly from your "debezeld" screen. so you are on the safe side right from the start.

here are my measurements for milling ( I think it was 108cm / 4,5cm / 5,5cm )

----------------

yes, the buttons aren't in the usual place, about 2-3cm deeper than the original ones... but after some plays it does not affect the feel of playing anymore.

chris

here is a first digital camera video of the virtual flipper sound (industry relay + 2.1 subwoofer system) vs. a real medieval madness flipper.

I think the virtualmachine sounds better ;-)

I am assuming you only loaded those tables which are clear and have high quality resolutions so they can be appreciated on the 46" play monitor.  Assuming my assumption is correct, would it be possible to list the tables you current have loaded so I can find the real clear ones?
