found Good monitors for arcade cabs!
« on: November 12, 2009, 08:30:40 am »
I have been messing about with arcade cabs for a long while,
I ended up buying microvitec multisync's for my cabs.

1 is a 14 inch, the picture is great ,ive had to mess with the rgb
settings internally a bit, even un focused it very slightly to make it look older,it was a bit too sharp , and stripped it of its casing but it fits in my cocktail
cab perfect and fits the chassis no problem, got it off ebay for about 40 gbp,was meant for amiga! it does anything i throw at it,
the picture really is nice.

The other is a 20 inch, picture is great after a few adjustments, this was meant for amiga,
i have yet to fit it in my upright cab, but it does 15k picture well, infact i cant seem to find a frequency
it cant cope with,i think it will be a bit trickier to mount as its bigger and more bulky to handle than the
14 inch, they both connect strait to the vga card, so less wires clogging the box! I got this off someone from an amiga website
who lived local for about 50 quid.

its great for configuring under dos cos it does 15k/30k so im really happy with these monitors,
anyone else fitted multisyncs, know of any good models to use?

Microvitec GPM 1701
Microvitec 1438S ,

specs of monitors:-
all i know is that they receive most input ranges i have tried:- i have a monitor definition file for an old acorn computer
that shows some of the frequencies it works at, thats all i can find ...lol. >>> sorry about the crazyness of this info but this is all i could get with google,
apart from a few pics.

update **

I have found the service manual here are some specs

size 17"
vert. scan 45-125 hz
horiz scan 15-64 khz
0.28 dot pitch
17kg weight

the 14" should be the same specs as far as i know :)

Why are you running at such high refresh in CGA and EGA games when you don't have to?

sorry about that,
this is just a spec sheet i found on the monitor for an old computer,
its not useful for anything apart from to see some of the resolutions that can be used,
i posted this before i managed to find the service manual with clearer
information on frequency ranges!

No worries...although that makes it even more interesting.

Amiga users used those Microvitec models in their Amigas. Amiga inc selled microvitec RGB Multisync monitors branded to Amiga

many of these monitors work in Arcade too
