I don't recall how far I got on my big run--you can look at the number under "AREA" on the high score table & compare mine to yours... I started counting power-ups to see if they were random or had a pattern. They seem to be the same each game. You get only 4-5 or so weapon upgrades before the 1st boss--way too many of the darn colored weapon change power-ups...ripoff... Oh, and I often *do* land with zero P-Stars after the 1st boss...I think the skipping is a function of *when* you die relative to the boss, not based simply on the quantity of P-Stars. Yah, if I die before the 1st boss, I usually restart, as I don't really have a chance at a big score... Thanks, -Jason |

Currently in second! 498,480 If I die before the first boss I'm just gonna restart from now on. It's pointless to continue any further, and I know I can beat the first level without dying. You're right about subtle difficulty differences between versions. Often it seems like the US or World versions are harder than the Japanese original with shmups. In this case it is reversed. Kyukyoku Tiger is much harder than Twin Cobra. It feels like the world version is just a little bit slower to me, but maybe that is just my imagination. The third level boss is the easiest so far. I was able to beat them both with just a regular red gun. |

At the 1st landing spot, you should have 10 stars & a 30k bonus. Bosses 3 & 4 have 2 parts. Get rid of the closer part first. Then the far part is pretty easy to pick off. Boss 2 stays far away most of the time, but then he gets closer & you need some sort of side weapon, then the game will advance whether or not you've killed him. -Jason PS--566k! |

Nice score! This happens to be a great Toaplan shooter... *Most likely* i'll eventually end up building a Twin Cobra. In those above cabinet pictures..poor atari cabinet :( the taito conversion I like it in though. I think that this game was a kit-only just like many other romstar distributed games . here is my NOS side art set tucked away for such an occasion: I want to buy the sticker sheet for this game the yellow button stickers etc if you have a NOS sticker sheet PM me. |

Yeah, I found and collected a 1UP last night. I was all, what? I figured it was an extra chopper, but was too busy to take stock an all. Bomb! Bomb Now! Except, I do die when I bomb because I'm trying to land it as close as possible, and the range of bomb flight blows. No two power-ups at the same time. Aha. I wondered last night what happened at one point, but figured it might've been that. ---daisies---! "- Picking up a colored weapon change power-up does not increment the weapon power, even if you pick up the same color you currently have." Not true. Blue does - but incrementally, and not necessarily every time, but after about five or six, it becomes five or six shot spread, followed by several shots in each line, and then at some point the middle line adds more. At this point, you're pretty rockin, and enemies are largely dust. Still difficult, though. No landing after boss: yeah, I think it's if you die. Same thing happened to me just before the second or third one. I was so cleverly avoiding the shots by finding the pocket and moving within it, short little jumps when necessary, but staying put otherwise - and then AH! OF COURSE, when I came back, it only took a shot or two. Not even a bomb was needed! So, on that note, here's my latest run from last night. Took me about eight tries. Sorry, Hewskie, i still have....erm, third. I got to the second boss on my first chopper, and like mentioned above, blundered. The first image is just after the second boss. Again, I just went as far as I could, cos I was back to regular fire. Damn, the thing don't just take one or two, it take 'em all! Mmm. I've been playing the US version, too. |
