Bonnie's Pink Box(update 7-26-10 new pix and starpower)

no plans, and yes, I know its kinda ugly, but its rough, so be gentle.
I'm prolly gonna recut the top, I dont like the lip up top. Also, the "frame" around the monitor is int he way of the screen but about 1/8th inch on the left AND the screen is ever so slightly crooked, nto much, but I noticed it, and Imma try and fix it.

starting the monitor support:

turn your head, forgot to rotate the image. More rough frame:

Basic computer fitment:

iso view:

sorry I didnt rotate these:/  hole cut out the side for easy computer access:

everything put together, and lookin rough:

blowhole fan up top, it'll be replaced with a pink one and tons of other pink stuff too, lol:

What touchscreen game is that? I have been thinking about doing a jukebox/touchscreen game combo for awhile but haven't seen anything good to use with a touchscreen yet.

If you like slot machines, buy 'Little Green Men' and/or 'Texas Tea', they're PC versions of real slot machines.  The games that have bonus rounds are really fun with the touchscreen, even though all you're doing is selecting items.

Note that one problem I've been having with both games installed is that Little Green Men keeps borking it's install requiring a reinstall to get working again.  The next time it breaks I'll install it into a seperate directory and see if that makes it more stable.

Heres the lip I didnt like:

its still a work in progress. I re-cut the top, I didn't like the lip. I also just wrapped it in black leather texture vinyl till we figure out how we want the outsides. Blue fan replaced with Pink UV fan, still waiting for the pink lights for the inside to come in. Also, theres a 1/4" gap in the back at the top, this was intentional! it serves multiple purposes, better ventilation and it'll let the pink lights inside GLOW

(Yes, its an unfinished porch, and yes there is tons of crap laying around)

Hilarious title!  ;D

I raised an eyebrow at the name too. I wondered if it had the same slang meaning in other English speaking countries (specifically the US) as it does in the UK?

Good progress, you work fast and its turning out pretty cool, but I'd think about changing the name maybe?

Yeah, I thought that. Next up on my list is to build a cabaret like Chicken McNobody's for the corner of the kitchen and now i 'need' a touch screen box thingy that I never knew I wanted.

right now I just wiped the HD and reinstalled XP trying to clear out a buncha junk files, however I think Im going to do an nlite install. Im also going through the 100 or so touch games on there to see which ones are working of of those, which are worth keeping . Far too many of them are trivia games based on knowledge of the UK, so they gotta go.

I'm also building a stand alone controller with XBOX360 guts that will plug into the USB port on the side so she can play traditional games and/or pinball :) It'll match the theme of black with pink highlights. Shes bought some stuff for the side art, some Sakura tree decals n stuff, looks pretty neat.

As for the Bezel, Im trying to convince FrancoB to make one for me cause Im not too fond of the wood picture frame thing, I mean its neat but its not awesome, imo

2 of these are going inside for a hot pink center:

its an LED bar, not a cold cathode

where did you find the games for your pink box?  I noticed the photo hunt and others.  I was doing some searching one time but I could not find the games that I would normally see on those touch screen bar games.

by the way your pink box is looking great!   >:D

Im a dude. just saying.

4 inch shaft, 1cm dia.?

you kids! you never mix metric and standard measurements! lol

I was trying to make the wires nice and neat but they were just taking up way too much room, especially with the big speakers. So I put in an order at MonoPrice and got some 1 foot cables; 1 VGA and 1 3Prong power cord.

I just put a quick coat of white primer inside to reflect the pink light around, tomorrow I start the final inside wiring hopfully everything will be nice and pretty (in pink). May even pick up the faux mirror project board so it'll really bounce the light around inside. I also picked up some little rubber feet. If time allows I'll put up more pictures tomorrow.

I would also be very interested to know where you got the games. I have a 15" touch screen I'd LOVE to do this with. I've tried to ask others where they get them from and no one has a straight answer.

thanks.

The name caught my eye too...but then I read the first line; "I know its kinda ugly, but its rough, so be gentle."   :dunno

I also suppose the photo on the LED bar was not rotated for a reason?

Smuckers?  HAHAHAHA

OK, so finally a bit of progress. I finally stuffed all the wires inside, the 1 foot cords made HUGE difference. The speakers (not pictured) still take up too much room, so Im lookin for a set of small USB powered cheapies so long as they sound pretty good, but the price of the project is jumping REALLY quickly :/

quick pic of the 1 foot cords installed, I love monoprice.

heres everything stuffed inside like a turkey, the pink LEDs are laying on the table:

I put the scraps of reflective vinyl on the back of the monitor.

Here is the stand alone controller for the touch cade, pink buttons on order:

Controller is powered by a 360 wired controller:

8 months later......

wiped the HD, installed TinyXP, it runs sooooo much better now. Its still pretty boring looking on the outside, so I spiced up the back a bit.....(pix below)
I need to order 3 or 4 more pink LED strips so you can see the outline on the wall behind the touchcade. Still havent ordered pink buttons yet.

I'll also be finding new better speakers, the USB powered ones I have are ok, but I want this little box to bump.

Very nice work. That pink box is invincible!

Ok, for real... spill the beans on where you got the touch screen games!!  :o

I have a touch screen that I would love to make something similar to this, but without the games, its not yet worth it!
