PCB Board repairs...any body out there ?
garnerb350:
Werid thing happened to me earlier tonight...I was wiring up a joystick on the Mr DO cab...and I went to plug the joker in so i could see if everything was correct...when i plugged it in...all I could hear was a dull ringing....and then on the screen popped up "ROM 2C4"...
I am so ticked off because of this...because this is my actual first restoration project...and now this happens....
Is there anybody here who can do PCB repair? or is it even worth it... Right now i cant decide weither to save this cab, or strip everything and make a 2nd mame cab...
Kevin Mullins:
If that ROM is in a socket you can try to gently pull it out and clean the legs and re-seat back into the socket and see if that helps. Just don't put it back in backwards, look for the notch and note which side it's on.

Thanks for the reply Kev....Now this is going to be a dumb question...I guess the roms are the black chips located through out the PCB correct?...I guess that i'll be checking tommorow...
If it doesnt help...then what should i do?
BobA:
ROMs are usually the ones with stickers on them.

Well I popped the rom out and cleaned it...popped it back in...making sure no prongs were bent and then I get another rom error...I went to that rom and checked it...then i checked and I get a crazy looking screen...I then popped the rom out...placed it backwards and still nothing...I switched it again and still getting rom error...what next? arrrrrgh :banghead:
