No. Technically, I'm correct. Yours is a colloquial use that has been absorbed into common use, and of course even dictionaries are subject to cultural amendment.

You mean using the word AD as in ADVERTISEMENT instead of the word ADD as in ADDITION wasn't done due to naivete/ignorance on your part?
I find that misspellings are much less irritating as the reader than when people misuse AD/ADD, TO/TOO, THERE/THEIR/THEY'RE, etc...
