Mouser Cap Lists
« on: August 02, 2009, 06:59:11 pm »
You can save lists of parts @ Mouser as "Projects".  This comes in very handy when you want to order a set of caps for say, a K4600 or a G07.

So far, this is the lists that I have.  I can't vouch if some of these are complete or not, but these lists came from trusted sources.

All caps are high temp unless otherwise stated.

K4600 - http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=1250958dd5
UPDATED 5-10-2010 - no longer using Xicon caps (Nichicon used now) and includes B+ Main Filter Cap.

K4900 - http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=3c30485d2b
UPDATED 6-24-2010 - no longer using Xicon caps (Nichicon/Panasonic/United Chemicon used now) and includes B+ Main Filter Cap.

UPDATED 11-19-2010 - DO NOT USE THIS LIST!  There are errors that must be corrected.

K7000 - http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=83caa252ea
UPDATED 6-24-2010 - no longer using Xicon caps (Nichicon/Panasonic/United Chemicon used now) and includes B+ Main Filter Cap.

Electrohome

G07 - http://www.mouser.com/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=15514de43d
UPDATED 12-14-2022 - updated as a number of parts were obsolete and no longer available.

UPDATED 5-9-2010 - no longer using Xicon caps (Nichicon used now) and includes B+ Main Filter Cap.
- don't use this right now, the two 4.7 @ 25V caps are supposed to be bipolar - the ones in this project are not.   Unless you don't care, or can figure out which ones you need.

Thanks to Dave Okert for some of those lists.  I'd appreciate COMPLETE cap lists if someone can make them available.

Cool, but the 20 Euro's delivery cost is killing the fun of Mouser for me....

RSonline supports similar lists (at least for a person, not sure if they can be shared) and RS doesn't charge _ANY_ shipping costs :)

Still, the hassle of creating those lists often keeps me ordering from Bob, also mostly because I almost always also need parts that places like RS don't sell...and the dollar-euro rate is still helping very much :)

Overseas shipping costs is often a killer.  Sorry, mate!  Once I get things a bit more straightened out in my store I'll be offering cap kits there as well.  But if anyone needs one before that time we can work something out.

Updated the K7000 list as it was missing the 3 10uf @ 25V bipolar caps.

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this post, if it isn't please let me know and I'll move or remove it.

Has any thought been given to including the B+ filter caps?  That way the list would include all of the electrolytic caps for a given chassis.

I'm in the process if recapping my Kortek KTA 915 monitor and would love to submit the cap list and Cxxx locations but I'm not sure how to identify if my caps are Low Impedance, audio or regular/generic and don't know which cap to use for a B+ replacement cap.

They generally don't go bad, that's why they're not in the list.

I've always thought  that is very odd. Just because these are usually (much) bigger and thus (much) more expensive they seem to be omitted in almost all cap-kits.

If we assume that we do the cap-kit because the old caps have dried-out because of heat and wear, then why would it suddenly be OK to leave in the big one's that are just as old ?

I have a feeling that these are left out to keep kit prices low.

The really big caps do the most filtering of the most essential (first) voltages coming into a monitor or, let's say a power supply.

We do change the Big Blue's but we don't exchange the really large caps on, let's say, a WG6100 ??

Say someone (i.e. me) is looking for something like a 470uf 25v cap on Mouser....

What is the characteristics or quality difference between these two cap choices ?

Nichicon 647-UPM1E471MPD1TD
and
Xicon 140-HTRL25V470-RC

I was using the cap lists provided and chose a random cap from the K4600 list and then I tried a general Mouser search to see how well that worked, when I realized there was nearly 70 choices to choose from.
 :dizzy:
So I just looked at costs and such, so between the two choices above there's about a nickel a piece difference.....ok.....is the higher costing cap still a better choice and why? (brand?)

I'm actually fixing to put together a few "project lists" together and was trying to get a handle on the selection process for each. (I have about 100 different caps to look up)
none of the caps I'm going to be looking up are anything really special, pretty standard 105 degree electrolytics and such, a couple may be low ESR, but not many.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Brand can have a lot to do with it.  I personally like the Xicon caps.  Functionally they're pretty similar.  I like to get caps all of one manufacturer if I can, makes it easier to eyeball and see what's been changed and what has not.

A recent ordering spree at MOUSER has discovered disturbing news.  All XICON capacitors starting with the part numbers 140-htrl are scheduled to be discontinued by the manufacturer. The above lists that contain these parts will have to be updated with the new replacement brand and part numbers.

I can't believe I forgot to post about that!  Disturbing news indeed.  The caps are being replaced with another brand (which one I forget) and that brand doesn't get good ratings at all on badcaps.net.  But then again, Xicons got that kind of rap too, and I've never had an issue with them.

The new brand is LELON and they are inheriting the MOUSER manufacturer part number prefix of 140- that used to belong to XICON.

Updated the G07 kit to use Nichicon caps instead of Xicon.  Note that this contains the main B+ filter cap.  If you don't need it, just remove it from your order.

I /think/ I got all the caps.  If I missed one, please let me know.

Another recent ordering spree at MOUSER has had me buying some of the replacement LELON brand caps with the 140- MOUSER manufacturer code. It turns out the cases come in the same unique green color as the XICON caps once did. Is XICON completely out of business or is LELON a new name for the same company?

I ordered and installed this kit (I used your mouser project list) on my 19K4952 Wells-Garner .  The C505 cap (mouser# 661-EKMQ201VN561MP30)  is physically much smaller than the original cap.  Therefore the heavy pins on the mouser cap will not align to the holes in the pcb.  The pins on the mouser cap are les than 1/4" long, so there is no bending possible.   I ended up just not using it at all.  This single cap is also the most expensive in the kit ($2.13).

BTW,  My monitor looks great now.  Thanks

You can modify the chassis slightly to accommodate this cap.  Drill a small hole where you want the lead to go.

Or on some chassis there is a hole directly below this cap.  You can use that for the opposite lead, then solder in a jumper to make the connection.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) technology takes leaps and bounds, and leaves its older brethren high-and-dry for a lack of replacement parts.  Or the parts are there, but a different size.

Since all the XICON brand caps are discontinued, the new LELON brand has super long part numbers. Makes ordering more of a challenge now. I just placed a Mouser order last Sunday. Took the better part of two hours trying to find the capacitors I needed to order. Plus the fact they seemed to be out of 1000 uf @ 16 volts of every brand except Sprague/Vishay (which I did NOT like the price).

Seems like all the capacitor prices went up. In some cases, WAY up.

Oh yes, I almost forgot. All the new electrolytic capacitors are now made WITHOUT lead. That means you can count on them failing much sooner and more often than ever before.

I hadn't needed the K900 list above until now, and there are some discrepancies.  I must have used another revision of the schematics to put the list together.  Here are the discrepancies:

C303 - 2.2uf @ 50V
C308 - 2.2uf @ 50V
C311 - 4.7uf @ 160V
C313 - 100uf @ 160V

Guppy, if you're still around, can you detail which 4900 model you have?

Does anyone have an updated project for a WG-K4600?  Several items in the posted project are back-ordered.

Thanks!

When this happens I search for products based on the same parameters of the original, then select one that's actually in-stock.  Should take you just a few minutes to pick them out.

That's what I did..  I'm awaiting my order now.

I also double checked my caps in my chassis to confirm and it appears that one of the two 2.2uF 50v is supposed to be bipolar.  C633, at least on my board, is a bipolar cap.  I ordered 647-UEP1H2R2MDD as a replacement for that one.

I'll know more when I receive my order.   :)  Thanks for the mouser projects!

The K7400 cap list over at mouser had some end of life caps on it with zero quantities left, so I made a few substitutions and re-saved the list:

http://www.mouser.com:80/ProjectManager/ProjectDetail.aspx?AccessID=66CFEEEB31

I see a few that I selected are also EOL too, but they're leaded caps with some pretty good quantities left, so hopefully the list can remain 'as is' for now.

Thanks....

Currently working on converting an Area 51 - Site 4 cab and just finished my homework for restoring the monitor in it. This is the list I came up with for the Pentranic CH-288 chassis:

Updated the G07 list for the first time in 12 years. Sorry it took so long, team. :(

I know the rest is out of date, also. I'll see what I can do.

Edit - I messed something up, don't use the G07 list until I fixed it

edit 2 - 99% certain the G07 kit is good to go.
