'Shifted' buttons in MAME?
whines:
I have a pair of pushbuttons located on my coin door that I use for PAUSE and EXIT. (the coindoor has a space for a bill changer--I removed that plate and added a little one to put the buttons in, so it looks nice) These are wired to a hacked gamepad which also gives me the COIN lines.
Is there a way to tell MAME to interpret only BOTH buttons being pressed together as 'EXIT'? It hasn't happened yet, but I'm nervous about someone kneeing it in the middle of a game. When I first put it together I thought you could do that, but it's not letting me, as far as I can tell. Do I need to manually edit the config file?
Ginsu Victim:
Go into the TAB settings, controls (general), and set CANCEL UI by pressing pause and exit at the same time.

Yes, Mame does "and" combos.
It's a little different than shift keys. With shift keys, the 'shift' key need to be pressed and held first, then the other 'shifted' key pressed. With mame's "and" combos, you can use any number of buttons, and as long as mame sees both (all) pressed at the same time, it will count as that input.
Ginsu posted how to map your request.
FWIW, mame can also do "not" combos. More details at mamedev FAQs.

You know, I was scared I might give too short of an answer, but yours was surprisingly short as well. You're slipping. ;D
