Mala Hiccup at startup
« on: October 07, 2009, 01:03:47 am »
CPU is oh so freakin close to be put into the arcade.  Arcade works great.

Problem is when it boots up and goes directly to Mala, it wont let any of the keystrokes work unless I right click with the mouse to bring up right-click menu.  Then all the controls work great!

Obviously the arcade will use just the Joystick and buttons (same as keystrokes).  Any ideas?

Mala is losing "focus".   Search (this forum only) for the word focus and you'll find some things to look for.  Seems like there is a plugin which helps with this problem...

I had this problem so i made a hotkey with auto hotkey (google it) to simulate a mouse click and then set it to launch with mala at start
works fine

He's simulating a left-click, not a right-click.  Otherwise you have to manually left click a mouse before Mala recognizes input.  Didn't someone have a focus plugin to fix this; I'm not sure?

I will try and find focus, or that hotkey idea might just be the ticket.

I will let you know.  Thanks for the leads!

Are you talking about MaLa Focus Logger 1.0 by TheShanMan found on Mala's website under the plugin section?

I think so though I've never used it.  Thanks, Mr_Doles!  Here's the description from the Mala website:

MaLa Focus Logger 1.0 by TheShanMan

A plug-in to fix a bug where MaLa sometime loses windows focus. The C runtime files (the non .plugin files) need to go in the mala directory itself on some systems, and in the plugin directory on others (not sure why it varies).

Whre do you put these 4 files from the Mala focus logger?

Oh, i found out, but it seems that they could go into the plugin folder or just the mala folder, no one seems sure not even the guy who made it. I've put mine in both places just to be shure.

On my setup i have a focus problem still after installing the plugin.

The focus problem (mouse needs to be clicked to get the controlpanel working) is ONLY a problem with MISFIT127 emu (and maybe other versions)
The Misfit emu is not a commandline emu but can be used as such in mala (I think this is where the problem lies).3. Uninstalling the Loandman Focus Plugin makes the problem with the misfit setup go 100% faulty e.g. ALLWAYS needing a mouse click. Installing the focus plugin makes the problem with the misfit setup about 20% e.g unreliable and no order in the run e.g: it's not certain games, all game scan suddenly do the problem.

I solved the problem (after trying everything like the end hook and stuff) but its certainly not the best solution: Turning of the general function 'Recorder layout after game quit' in options menu under the tab 'Game start/quit, solves all, and not even the focus plug in is needed.

But this is a problem if you use the 'Recorder layout after game/start/quit'.

The solution could be to move the 'Recorder layout after game/start/quit to
the individual setups menus, (under other emus tab and the underlying menus per setup).

But i never myself had any luck with the 'Recorder layout after game/start/quit,
it seem not to do just what it says. I've had to give up several PC games  since they cluttered the layout after end game, and i have one or two emu that does the same.

There could be other ways to solve the problems than my suggestions of course.

I noticed in the options menu under Plugins that the Focus plug in is said to work 'At Mala start' and 'And Mala quit'. Does this mean that it also works after game quit, as I'm not sure wether Mala runs in the background while a game is playing or not).

Loadman could i plead for a response?

(How do i come in contact with Loadman?).

Hi,

I don't have this focus problem but that plugin should tell you what program is stealing focus in the logs

I am having this problem as well.  Can someone post instructions (dungbeetle46) on how to get the auto hotkey working to fix this issue?  It is the last thing I need to figure out for the software!  Thanks.
