Hello.  I could really use some advice on how I should mount my monitor.  Here is what I have:

 Acer X193W

I was thinking of just using a wood shelf or maybe making a metal frame like so:

What's the best way to go about this?  Using tinted / smoked glass or plexiglass to hide the wooden shelf or metal frame?  Would I have to make a custom bezel?  I prefer a method that is quick and easy, but I don't mind spending time and money for something that would look good.

Thanks!

well.. first off you have to ask your self are you wanting to mount the monitor as-is, or are you gonna decase it first?

what i woudl do is run to 2x4's across and mount each end of the monitor to the 2x4's

to hide everything you could create a bezel, if your'e gonna keep it cased then you could just spray the frame flat black.

you could use black poster board to fill the gaps if there is any.

if you do a neat job you can get away with clear glass.. if you do a sloppy one throw some smoked/tinted glass on it and no one will be able to really see the bezel anway.

I'm about to mount my monitor, so I'll just interrupt with a question.

What is 2x4's and where do you mount the monitor to the 2x4's

Ohhh, I just looked at the picture and saw it was a cocktail cab.

Never mind my question

Franco B:

I would make a bezel out of 3mm black acrylic. The outside profile being the one of your cocktail (the inner recessed part) and the inside one being the screen res you intend on running.

On the underside side of that I would have an MDF 'bezel' that your LCD will fit in. You can use strip braces or whatever to mound the LCD to the inner supporting bezel.

2x4's sound like a good method; thanks for the suggestion.  I want to mount the monitor as is, minus the base.

OK, so you're saying that the acrylic should basically have a rectangular cut out that is the same size as the monitor screen?  And the monitor would sit directly (touching) under the acrylic bezel?
