Paint for my new cabinet??
numbnutz48:
What is a good Primer for MDF?
Is Latex paint the way to go for a nice topcoat? Flat or Semi-Gloss?
Beretta:
i think i read oil base was better for MDF because MDF sucks up latex paint more.. ro something..
try doing a search i remember there being a few threads about mdf and paint.
imo oil based paints are the best looks wise but latex is so much easier to clean up.
javeryh:
You want BINZ primer. That stuff is like magic.
Turnarcades:
You don't necessarily need primer if you use the right paint. We recommend our customers use an oil-based outdoor paint on kits like Sadolin Extra Durable Weathershield, which is very similar to the industrial stuff we use and goes great on MDF. In a clean environment, 2 coats without primer is sufficient for the intended semi-gloss finish, but extra coats can be applied for a vinyl-like glossy finish.

I just finished building mine and I used Killz (oil based primer). I read on this site about it and it was suggested that you should apply a coat, sand, and apply another... that is exactly what I did and it turned out great!
