Pinball on Xbox360 - Williams Hall of Fame

Yeah, that "tips" thing drives me nuts.  It's be nice to be able to read them.  I think it's because this is an update of the previous Xbox game where loading times were longer.  They upped the graphics and added 3 tables, and didn't worry about the little presentation stuff.  Just a guess on my part though.

I did hear that Monster Mash almost made it into this game, but licensing wasn't done fast enough.  I have a feeling we'll be seeing that one in DLC.

The only Williams table I'm familiar with is High Speed, so I'd like to see that someday.

DJ_Izumi:
PHOF has had table additions with each release.  The PS2 port featured only 8 tables, the Wii/PSP port featured 10 tables and now 360 and PS3 are featuring 13 tables.  Clearly they have the means to get more tables and include them and now they are on platforms that offer DLC options.  The game has been successful enough, even as a value title to get re-releases so they could work on some DLC to offer up additional tables.  At $39.99 it only costs $3.08 per table in the game.  Meanwhile they could bring in $5 per additional table as DLC.  It certianly seems possible.

I actually emailed Farsight studios, just to report a couple of bugs.  One being the VGA aspect ratio issue and also that the ingame 'turn off vibration' option does... Squat.  It doesn't turn off the vibration, you have to do it in the Dashboard instead.  I said I loved the game and we used it for public gaming events and I asked if they hat intentions on doing DLC.  The PRESIDENT of the company responded to me, said that  MS offers litte support or info with the VGA cable to devs and admitted they didn't test it, he also said they'd look into the bugs if they issued a patch.  Strangely he didn't mention a word on DLC.  If they had no intentions of DLC, you'd think he'd deny it?  So they could be looking into it.

But I have to admit, the game has some weaknesses.  One being that they didn't work on the table lighting for the PS3/360 ports.  The light shows come off as pretty lackluster on tables like Medieval madness.

If anyone is interested also, I sent them a fan letter over the PSP port over a year ago, even appologising for pirating it because no store in Canada carried it, not even Amazon.ca, but said we did buy two ligit copies from Amazon.com of the PS2 port for gaming events.  On the topic of additional tables then, the VP of Farsight said the following:

--- Quote ---Thank you very much for your email.  We’ll definitely be working on more pinball titles.  Nothing has been announced, so I can’t say what we’re working on right now.

Hopefully, there will be another full collection or two as well.  I’m sorry our publisher isn’t distributing the game very strongly north of the border as of yet.

FYI, Stern continues to design and make really nice tables, but Mr. Stern is opposed to licensing us his tables because he believes we dilute the coin-op market.
--- End quote ---

This is from July 2008, but it's apparent that they are looking into options beyond Williams and maybe entire new collections.  Which, agian, with DLC in the modern age, we might just see expansion of Williams tables? :)  With the Williams lisence, they should have permission to use Bally tables too.  Maybe we'll see Pinball Hall Of Fame: The Bally Collection?

Oh, I can see it now - MS will somehow piss off the developer with their certification process and the PS3 will be the only way to get DLC, which will force me to repurchase the game since I bought it for my 360.

That's cool that you got a reply from the developer.  I might try an e-mail myself.  Anything to let them know this game has a decent following.

DJ_Izumi:
Email Farsight Studios, not Crave, since Crave just published it.  postmaster@farsightstudios.com seems to get you somewhere, I got a respones from the president the other week after emailing that address.

Press them on the DLC topic, tell'em you'd pay good money for some Attack From Mars. :D

geocab:
Thanks for the address.

And I'll probably include your request, pinballjim, verbatim.
