LCD CRT for desktop mame
u_rebelscum:
My biggest problem is IPS panels is the limmited side views, and the even ore limited vertical views (which become the horizontal when you rotate it.) Be aware that the image might fade, darken or even go negative in any of the techs, but much quicker on IPS.
(Note: some IPS scareens are far better than others, and somebad PVA screens are worse than the best IPS AFA side view goes, but as a general rule IPS are not as good as PVA in this area.)
I never want to buy an IPS panel.

I have used the Eizo 2431 in vertical position with Mame, and it is rougly the same panel (Its a 24 inch 16:10 from the same Samsung production line, the 214T panel is cut shorter 1600x1200 instead of 1920x1200). It is excellent, perfect blacks for Pac-Man and other mostly black classics. It delivers a pretty huge image though. A 19 inch CRT had a slightly smaller visible image, so this roughly looks 3 inches bigger. Also most LCD's are mounted closer to the player than the reclined classic tubes.

The glow is a reflection from the ceiling, not backlight bleed.
