That's the first I've heard a statement like that?  Can you cite any documents to back this up?  I'm especially interested in specifics on what would qualify since, I myself, have what I'm sure would be considered a "potato gun" (even though I only shoot tennis balls) and another compressed air rifle which works on the same concepts of a potato gun but has a 1" barrel out of which glow-sticks are the main projectile.

It would sure be nice to know if I were breaking the law...

Hmm, a friend of mine is the founder of the "Bar Harbor Siege Engine Machine Society" and they used to use a small catapult to throw candy at kids during the parade... Too bad I wasn't there when they were doing it, I might get a bit sadistic with the aim.  >:D >:D >:D

Here's my setup so far. This was taken in broad daylight with a crappy cam but you get the idea. My projector is only 700 lumens, curtain from Target on clearance, 15 inch PA speaker system for sound (Music playing was added after the fact, crappy camera doesn't pick up sound very well). For some reason I cannot get sound from this video in Chrome. Works fine in IE though.
