i used one of these.  it is a craftsman auto switch.  i picked one up at sears for $20...and it works great.

Sorry I was very wrong by saying black and decker haha, I have the craftsman from sears, the black and decker was a car inverter I bought more recently

I bought a monster cable strip.. smart strip wasnt available locally and i didnt want to wait for the mail. Monster cable has a "green" strip with does exactly what the smart strip does

Yes...although wiring up a relay is about twice as hard as using jumpers cables on your car.
