Not sure if this power strip was mentioned before but I ran into it at Staples the other day. It is the APC Power-Saving Essential SurgeArrest 7 (model# P7GT) and it has a master and 3 controlled outlets that power down when the master powers down, just like the Smart Strip. It has 3 regular, not controlled, outlets as well for 7 total (1 master, 3 controlled, 3 regular). It was like $24.99 or $29.99 retail (I can't remember which) but the kicker is that Staples had it on clearance (YMMV) for $14.90 so I bought 6 of them. I have one with my PC right now (none in cabs yet) and everything powers down when I turn off the PC (pretty slick I mut say). Link to the APC page to describe the power strip. http://www.apc.com/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=P7GT |

could just hook up a relay from the computers psu to an electical box or power strip. i think radio shack has some for like 4 or 5 bucks this is probably the route im gonna take. |

I went to sears and bought a 3 outlet black and decker power strip thing, one is the main and the other two are for accesories. I put the pc in the main and a multi input extension cord in one of the accesory ports. Works great. |

If it's at least 10-15 bucks cheaper than the smartstrip it may be perfect for this hackneyed LCD Monitor/TV setup I have... |

I found something like that at walmart by phillips, but it was in the 20-25$ range. 14.99 is a deal! Maybe someone skilled with AC electrical would want to play with relays and such, but that'd be a little too much risk for my blood. Esp when you can get something UL listed for less than 25$ |
