It's funny how it leaves me totally cold if he would Mame this or not.
I never liked these kind of games, and I never will.

Same here. I have no love for fighting games or any 90's Jamma games for that matter. However, this is a nice cabinet and doesn't belong in the restoration section if this will be a Mame game.
(in fact, my War Gods will become a mame cab for my brother soon)

There is a huge difference between finding original hardware for a KI and a Dragons Lair.
And this fella just mentions that it's "not working" with a hint that the monitor doesn't work.
So is all the original hardware there or not ? (boardset)
The monitor should be easy enough to fix...... and a boardset easy enough to find if needed.
Number one thing that goes out on these is the power supply.
And typically they just get weak and need turned up a hair.
So, question remains...... how complete is this machine ?
It's still really all a matter of opinion on what you do with a cab.
But MAME something that is easily "restorable" and you tend to loose some support here and there.
I'd even go along with the multi-KI's others have built......but there's at least original hardware in those that I've seen. (JAMMA switchers)

Beretta:
i assume he's gonna run ki 1 and 2 on mame in it, rather then a general use mame cabinet.
thats a ki2 cab, if the board is working but monitor is out then fix the monitor would be the easiest/cheapest way of going about this.. although you'll only have ki2.. personally i like the first KI better then the 2nd but thats neither here nor there.
the art loks like it's in good shape so if you do mame it for "general" gameplay beyond ki1 and 2 at least keep the side art.. thats such a big thing with me. preserving the cabinet art if there is any.
