I wasn't much into that back in the day, even.  That kid didn't make me think he was cool.  It made me think he needed a backhand to the temple. 

Granted, I did hold some resentment of kids who had a good home life and lived in a nice area...

So you hate all the kids in John Hughes movies. :lol Even Pretty in Pink, where she's supposedly poor, but lived in a huge house.

+1   How 'bout 'Twist n Shout', where all the black people spontaneously line dance? That made me cringe.

Yeah, I didn't have much use for those either.  And I remember sitting through Johnny B Goode thinking "THERE'S NO WAY THAT KID IS A COLLEGE PROSPECT QUARTERBACK!"  He's tiny!
