i just picked up a nice  arcade cab with a pot based flight yoke  i have the opti wiz from gg on hand  will it work for pot based controls or will i need something els

and if so what encoder do i need

mvsfan:

ive always heard that the best way to do this is to get ahold of an old game port based analog stick from the 386 age, and wire your analog flight yoke up to the board.

only other thing you need to do is replace the arcade potientometers with 100k pc compatible pots.

i havent tried it yet though so, use this advice as you feel fit to.

CheffoJeffo:

The OptiWiz is for optical controls.

For something pot-based, you could look at

or something like a Sidewinder hack ... or look at switching out the pots ...

so will the u-hid nano do what i need  for 2 pots (up/down , left /right )
 http://www.ultimarc.com/JShopServer/section.php?xSec=13
then i guess i would still need a button encoder (i need 4 button  inputs as well ) or does it include some button inputs (man i hate ultmarc their site has such bad  descriptions  of their products  gg is so much better)

AndyWarne:

We paid particular attention to documentation on the U-HID and I believe its well covered, with a full PDF manual and connection examples etc including pots.
